Tea of the Week for May 15, 2023!
I’ve been envisioning crafting a blend just like this & it came out exactly as I hoped it would! Rich black teas (Yunnan & Columbian), orange & lemon peel as well as my recipe for panettone essence are combined to create this decadent, dessert-y tea that’s not too sweet. It makes for a delightful breakfast tea – as well as a pleasant afternoon tea.
It’s also vegan, organic, gluten-free, allergen-free & all natural!
organic ingredients: black teas, lemon peel, orange peel & natural flavors
more about this tea: as I mentioned above, this is a blend that I’ve envisioned for a while now. Panettone is one of my favorite “breads” to use when I want to make a really decadent french toast. Generally, I’ll do this on special occasions like Christmas morning, Birthdays, and any time I want to do something special for my family. My favorite part about it is eating the end pieces of the panettone – I slice most of the panettone into appropriate french toast slices, but the end pieces are all mine! I love the subtle notes of citrus, the chewy bits of raisin and citrus peel and the buttery, bready cake. YUM!
So these were the characteristics I was looking for in my Panettone blend. I decided not to add raisin as they tend to weigh a blend down & after my initial taste test, I found that the blend didn’t really need raisins. I love how this one turned out!
to brew: shake the blend to distribute ingredients throughout. Use 3g for 12oz of near boiling water (205°F) steep for 3 minutes, strain & enjoy!
serving suggestion: I enjoy this served both hot and iced, but I enjoyed it most as a hot tea. I found that adding a tiny drizzle of honey which brought out more of the bready, cake notes – but it’s quite tasty without sweetener, too!.
