What, I haven’t made a note on this yet? I’ve had this at least 3 times Western style, and it was awesome! Today, it is my second tea to christen my new gaiwan, as I actually don’t think I’ve ever brewed a white tea gongfu style, even in my little tea pot!
I have no idea how much leaf I used, I just covered the bottom of the gaiwan. I poured 175 degree water in for a few seconds, and poured it out. A few leaves in the cup, but I got them out so it wouldn’t get too strong. My goodness, this smells like JASMINE. Like soo much jasmine, in that short of time! There’s like a bouquet of it in my small cup! Oh, and the dry leaves smell very nice, a bit similar to the Yunnan white jasmine by Verdant, but there is a subtle difference that I notice, but can’t pick out anything specific about it. Just that it’s a tad different. The liquor is a very light color, just the barest hint of color.
This tastes perfect. Just perfect. I can definitely taste a fruitiness mixing with the jasmine, it is so fresh and just pure. It might be my brain wanting to taste the pear note, but I swear it’s there!! Haha, a crispness that reminds me of summer days actually, in the late afternoon with the sun lower on the horizon, and a big apple tree nearby. Sometimes I get strange associations of places that I don’t even know if I’ve been to, just a picture in my mind I guess lol.
Overall, this tea is really good so far done gaiwan style, I should eventually make a note for western. If I recall, this has a bit more flavor in the gaiwan so far than western brewed. I love jasmine teas, and this one definitely does not disappoint. Can’t wait for the bf to try it this way as well, as he LOVESSS jasmine white teas, and actually requests the Yunnan white quite often. He will probably enjoy this quite a lot.
