Another damn fine tea from Butiki.
I’m not sure if I would have picked this out as a must-try for my first order but the Autumn sampler sold me, seeing as I’m in the throes of a Southern Hemisphere autumn right now!
The dry scent is heady and FULL of maple. After trying the pumpkin milkshake 2.0 the other day (not a winner on my first try but I’m withholding review until I give it more opportunity) I dug to the bottom of the packet to check for similar “gravel” and with the sweet scent coming off the tea I was surprised that there wasn’t any.
I followed Stacy’s instructions closely on this one and it resulted in a divine blend of oolong, maple and pecan. Nothing was overwhelming. Nothing was overshadowed. No fighting in the cup for dominance. Just a lovely, lovely trio.
I put on a second steep but accidentally let it run for 18mins because I’m a dweeb, and it’s come out a bit oversteeped. SURPRISE SURPRISE. I doubt I’ll get a decent third steep now but will try again in the future.
