768 Tasting Notes
This was my afternoon cup today. It’s not super cold hehre right now, around 27, but a littel foggy and dreary. So I decided t go though the teas I did drink from my advent calendars in December, and came up with this one.
I didn’t love it. I didn’t hate it. Darned nose can’t smell anything so I really have no idea about the taste. A bit bitter at the end of the sip. I drank half the cup, then poured it out and re-steeped. It wasn’t bitter, but now a little astringent. It’s a shame. In the past I’ve enjoyed caramel teas like Mrs Patmore’s pudding tea and Marco Polo. Maybe it’s time to start adding honey to my tea.
Preparation
This was my tea last night. I am not allowed alcohol for medical reasons, so I thought this might be an acceptable replacement. I did not stay up to midnight either.
This tea was part of my Bird & Blend tea advent calendar. I simply couldn’t keep up with the calendars, so I will have plenty of new teas to try the rest of this winter. This one brewed up a dark pink color, almost red. A little spicy. Way too much hibiscus for my taste. My brother LOVES zing-y teas with hhibiscus, but to me it is just sour. I’m glad I got to try it, but this will not be a re-order for me.
Preparation
Plum Deluxe Advent Te Calendar Day 11
I have decided to just move forward with the advent calendars. I’m not going to beat myself up or try to rush to catch up, and if I miss a day, I can always go back in January and try them then. I want to enjoy my tea, not make it a chore.
So. I enjoyed this one. I got a nice creamy, almond-y scent from the dry leaf, a bit or orange flavor in the sip. It was a little more artificial than I like. As I said, I enjoyed it. If a friend served this I would happily drink it. But I do not plan to order any.
Plum Deluxe Advent Calendar Day 10
This wasn’t bad. I like a caffeine free tea in the evening, but usually they are herbal or honeybush or rooibos. So a black tea is different.
This isn’t strickly a black tea though. It is flavored, and I kinda like the flavor profile. Sorta chocloate-y, sorta vanilla-y, with an underlying nutty note. I did enjoy this one. Maybe some day, like 5 years from now, I will have drunk a substantial bit of my tea drawer and have room for more. This could be an order at that point.
I got this one in my recent 52Teas order as a sample. Last night I wanted something caffeine free before bed. I have many other teas that qualified, but I decided to try this one. Num! really enjoyed it. Spicy but not overwelmingly so, with a subtle apple flavor nicely coplimented by cinnamon and other spices. Just a delicious cup before bed.
I am WAAAAY behind on my advent calendars. I had this one this morning. I atually liked it quite a bit. Lovely dark pink color, a fine scent. The hibiscus waa the only thing that spoiled it for me. A little more tart than I like. i re-steeped the bag for a second cup, and the color was a dingy brown-gray, and the hibby was gone. Of corse, most of the flavor was gone as well.
I liked this one enough to be willing to have it again, but not enough to order 50 grams.
I liked this one. It had a nice creamy, buttery flavor that appealed to me. I’m not going to orer any, because I have other teas in the stash that have this sort of flavor profile, and I am absolutely buying NO MORE tea for a while! But I was glad to try it.
One of the nice things about a tea advent clendar is you get to try some teas that you might not have ever thought you’d like and you turn out to enjoy them. And vice versa.
Preparation
I did not enjoy this tea very much. I didn’t hate it. I got mild flavors, but I couldn’t identify them. That is not the tea’s fault. That is my blasted nose. Possibly i under leafed it. I used only 2/3 of the sample packet because my tea cup is only 6 ounces. So this is definitely not a re-order for me.
Oh, Marco Polo! I haven’t had that in ages…so, so, so very good!
