768 Tasting Notes
I was craving a spicy evening cup, and I was out of the Good Earth tea a like. This was mild. I actually tasted nothing at all. Since I don’t have a sense of smell I don’t taste much. But I usually get some spice. I sure do with the Good Earth brand. Which is not to say this was awful. It was a cup of warm of water, which is better than a bitter or sour cup of warm water.
I’ve had this as my evening cup for he past two nights. Now it’s gone! cue wild sobs I really like this tea, especially now that it is cold out. I’ve been to two stores looking for it but they do not have it. Grr. It’s not like I don’t have any other teas to drink. But this one is a fave. It is rainy and cold here (and I doubt it will get much warmer for the next 4.5 months) so a nice spicy herbal tea is what I want. I do have some chai teas, but they are black based, so possibly not as good for evening. I will see.
I’m not sure I knew they had a caffeine free version. Based on the black tea variety, I agree that it’s perfect for raw weather.
Ashmanra We do not, but I know Walmart carries it. I just hate to go to Walmart. But I will. Maybe over the weekend.
gmathis They do! They also have a half herbal/half black version which is nice.
I last had this one cold brewed, and it was nice but not spectacular. This morning I had it on my morning break. I very rarely work Sundays but this weekend is cut over for the new computer system at work. I know NOTHING about computers but somehow I earned the ‘honor’ of being on the test team. Ugh. Started yesterday at 9:00 am and went to 6:15 pm. Nothing worked well, so back today at 10:00 and it ain’t done yet.
Sigh.
As a hot cup this is nice. Again, not spectacular. A little bitter at the end of the sip. If I were ordering teas, this would not be included in an order. I won’t have any problem finishing it., Maybe I will add a touch of honey to the next cup and see if I like it better that way. I very rarely add anything to my tea. A little sweetener now and then, but never milk. Funny, because I cannot stand coffee without creamer. :)
Not much left of this one! I miss A Quarter to Tea. I am on a strict tea diet until I drink down enough to have room for me. Now that the cool weather is here (except for a few days is the mid 70s next week) I will be relaxing a lot more in the evenings with tea.
This tea is mild and smooth and everything I like in a tea. It is only 58 today, so pretty c hilly in my little home office. I brewed a small pot of this to get me through the workday afternoon. It was wonderful.
Today, at last, felt somewhat like fall. The average high for this time of year here in Fargo ND is 61 with an average low of 38. But the highs have been in the mid to upper 70s and the lows have been upper 50s and low 60s. The average date for the first frost is 10/9. There is no frost on the horizon for the next 10 days. I WANT FALL!!! Please don’t get me wrong. I do not want winter. But days where a sweatshirt is comfy would be nice. I don ’t like to drink hot tea in the warm weather.
However, the temp is 60 right now with falling rain, so it was the perfect day for a cup of hot tea. I grabbed this one because it is one of my all time faves, and I need to drink up some of my opened teas before I start on new, unopened tea. This one is always so smooth and rich without any bitterness. Just pure tea drinking satisfaction.
You sent the cold front our way. It was raining and blowing sideways when I got up this morning! (It’s high time. We’ve had a pretty unrelenting extended summer, too.)
Looks like the warm weather isn’t letting go yet. :( So I cold brewed quart of this one. I must have under leafed it because it tastes quite weak and is only a pale brown.
The flavor is quite nice, if weak. Sometimes I add sugar to my iced tea but I didn’t need it with this one. It had a bit of malt, and a distinctly sweet finish. It was nothing spectacular, but I won’t have any trouble finishing this one.
Preparation
It has been too freaking hot for hot tea this summer! The air conditioning doesn’t get to my office, where I spend about 10 hours a day, so I haven’t had much hot tea. Right now it is 82 degrees outside, and it is 79 in here. :( I always mean to drink more iced tea, but I … just don’t.
That said, I enjoy a nice peppermint tea in the evenings. I like the convenience of bagged tea for this, and I usually have a box of Twinings or Stash peppermint tea on hand. A friend gave me a tin of this, 30 bags, as a get well gift. It is nothing spectacular, but herbal peppermint tea isn’t, generally, spectacular. This has a nice light flavor that I enjoyed a lot. I look forward to drinking this over the fall and winter (which cannot come soon enough for me!)
Preparation
Absolutely my favorite cold brew. This is light and refreshing without any sweetener, and no bitterness. Absolutely my fave for iced tea. The can is a little old. I keep saying I’m not buying any more tea. But this is almost gone and it looks like this is going to be a hot summer. The heat continues, although tomorrow is expected to be down to 82!!! Back up to the 90s Saturday through the next Friday, with some possible high 80s. I don’t know how y’all in the south deal with this. I tell you, I am ready for fall. And it’s not even officially summer yet!
Cold Brew
I may have over leafed this. I added some to a jug with another tea, and since this was open, I decided to make a jug of it on its own.
Kind of underwhelming. I mean, it was a bit bitter, and I didn’t really savor the flavor, because I didn’t get much flavor. Maybe this is a tea that does better hot. I did add a bit of sugar, which helped, but I generally prefer to not add sweetener to my iced teas. I know, all y’all from the south just shuddered. LOL But that is just me. Just the right tea can stand on its own.
Same for me, I hardly tasted anything other than a touch of cinnamon and light tea
Pear must be a tricky flavor to replicate—seems like all the pear flavors I’ve tried don’t quite hit it accurately.
