Really interesting tea with the combination of currant and caramel. Not my cup of tea, but it was okay.

Very bright cherry flavor. I have to be in the right mood for this tea, but it’s pretty good.

I can’t believe this has such a high rating.. Maybe there was something wrong with my satchet. The dry leaf smells like an atomic fireball candy, but there’s no spice in the taste and the tea is cloyingly sweet. I have to dump this out.

I didn’t even try the sample I had, cinnamon = NO in my book.

I steeped this tea in the hotel I was staying at in Kansas City.. They had a keurig that I cleaned out and was able to make some hot water fairly easily. The early steeps of this tea is nice, but nothing superb. Definitely some wood and tobacco notes. I wanted to save the leaf for the next day, but I woke up to some frozen sheng…

I wasn’t able to finish steeping it, so will refrain from a numeric score at this time.

I enjoyed this wonderfully curly green tea on the airplane on the way back from the Midwest Tea Fest. This tea has been sitting around since I ordered it, but I’ve sent a few samples of it out to other steepsterites. I’m definitely going to have to drink this more! It’s a wonderfully light green with hints of chestnut, butter, and overall deliciousness. If you’re a fan of teas like dragonwell, then this would be a great tea to have.

Flavors: Butter, Chestnut

I bought this tea from Anna Marie’s Tea at the Midwest Tea Fest as something to fill the void from Della Terra’s Lemon/Lime Chiffon. The loose tea smelled amazing, though the vendor’s representative was very lacking in knowledge.. I asked him about the tea and he just read the ingredient label, taking care to point out “honeybush” as a cool ingredient… sigh
As a red rooibos tea, this is pretty good. The lemon flavor isn’t as distinctive in the taste as it is in the scent. I brewed this tea at starbucks. Note to self: you can get free hot water in any size cup from starbucks and make your own tea if you have a filter/tea with you ;)

This is less of a tasting note and more of a story.

Last Friday, I flew out to Kansas City for the Midwest Tea Fest. Having made the mistake of having airplane tea two weeks ago, I came prepared this time. I brought along some filters and loose tea in my carry on. When the flight attendant came around with the drink cart, I asked for some hot water for tea, which they provided along with the same crappy tea bag from last time. I kindly handed it back to the attendant so that someone else could suffer through it at a later time.

To the amusement of my seat-mate, I then pulled out a bag of tea from my pocket and a filter and filled it. This tea has such a wonderful aroma and I’m sure that others could smell the loose leaves. After a quick steep, I was able to enjoy some delicious loose leaf tea on the plane! I did have some folks looking at me though, probably wondering what I was doing. Either way, this was a delicious tea to have first thing in the morning!

Surprisingly, this hasn’t been reviewed yet! I’ve always wanted to try this cake – basically cause I think the wrapper is pretty.

Overall, a great example of young bulang. Sharp and bitter with floral notes of orchid and some lingering notes of apple skin. Probably not something I would drink in its young state, but still a solid tea.

A nice and sweet Japanese green, but nothing special to write home about. The sweetness isn’t as much as a new shincha or something, but it’s very pleasant.

This is a nice example of Vietnamese green tea. No bitterness, nice and creamy. Overall a really nice tea for me :)

Learning more about tea every day.

Likes: Greens, whites, oolongs, blacks, and herbals! Just depends on the mood :)
Dislikes: Coconut, melon, chocolate, peach, cherry

I also collect antique teaware (Chinese and Japanese).

I’d love to try new types, varieties, etc. I’m still exploring pu-erh to make a complete decision whether to keep trying it or just count it as a loss.

I’d love to trade with anyone who likes something that I might have! I just have to get everything added to my cupboard first :)
