Lupicia Tea
I have heard a little about Lupicia on Steepster but was wondering. How do people like their teas and their service? They have US stores, do they ship from the USA?
I really enjoy their teas – they have some especially good fruity oolongs. I haven’t really experienced their service one way or another, my orders have gone off without a hitch. They only have US stores in California and Hawaii currently, and my orders have shipped from California both times.
Specific teas I like/recommend would be Melon Oolong, Ripe Mango Oolong, Grapefruit Green, Caramel & Rum (rooibos), and Golden Honeydew (green rooibos). Their flavored barley teas are also tasty if you like that type of thing. I also ordered all of their holiday teas and they’ve been good so far. :)
I’ve ordered from them a few times. They are currently my favorite source of flavored teas. I’ve never had a customer service issue. Gotten what I ordered in a reasonable amount of time.
I agree with Cameron – fruity oolongs are really good – Kotobuki is amazing. I like all their melon teas – green honeybush, white, oolong.
Matcha Black Soybean Rice Tea is a really good genmaicha with a kick. Cookie, strawberry chocolate pu’erh, Kaga Bocha au Lait.
I haven’t had any of their straight teas, but have enjoyed the majority of the flavored ones I’ve tried.
I’ve not found many good tea places that sell good fruity teas. Honestly, Teavana is right below this one on the list of best fruit tea places.
I love love love their Melon Oolong, Golden Honeydew, Momo Oolong Super Grade, Cookie, and Ripe Mango Oolong. Their Bananae Chocolate is pretty good too, but easily goes bitter.
I’ve had a couple unflavored teas from them…and honestly, wasn’t too impressed. If you are gonna get unflavored teas, you can definitely find better and cheaper places to buy from.
I think the main thing I hate about Lupicia teas is that I find their vanilla to be INCREDIBLY fake and artificial. I usually don’t have problems with artificial tastes, but the vanilla just tastes off to me. Don’t think many people agree, so you shouldn’t take my word for it-that’s just my opinion. :P
And I’ve not had any problems with ordering from them online-but I’ve only done it twice. The Lupicia store I’ve been to, the workers are pretty rude and ignorant-like worse than any of the Teavanas I’ve been too. xD But if you’re just ordering online you shouldn’t have trouble!
Lupicia is definitely worth a try!! Hope you enjoy whatever you end up getting!
I’ve never ordered from them, but I have been extremely impressed with every flavoured tea of theirs I’ve sampled.
I’ve never had a problem ordering online. The only teas I have tried are flavored (love Golden Honeydew) and have been good.
Their tins are quite lovely too!
Really good fruity flavored teas. I also have had great service at their stores, but have heard negative things about their service regarding online orders. Check out my review of Decaf Carol.
I’ve liked their teas, but their service (or rather lack of service) is abysmal. Honestly I wouldn’t order from them again. There are just too many companies that care about their customers and are active in the community that I would rather support.
I sent them a few e-mails asking for ingredients in a couple of their teas. No response. Then I just asked for allergen information, explaining I had severe nut allergies and just wanted to know if those teas would be okay for me. This was over the week they had that free shipping deal. Still haven’t heard back.
I know what you mean about customer service not contacting you. I have been waiting for about four days now for an email response from David’s Tea about their tea with gluten free wheat starch. Something I bought in store then noticed on the label. They still haven’t gotten back to me.
I had some troubles with DavidsTea too. Emailed them like 3 times in one week about an order that I made that I wanted to change once and then they replied literally like a couple hours after I got a shipping confirmation >> All those big companies aren’t the best with customer service…such a shame.
I don’t know about Lupicia, but I find that sometimes I get a faster customer service response posting on social media (Facebook or Twitter.) I got a pretty quick response on DAVIDS’s Facebook page asking if an item was going to be discontinued.
AllanK, I’m interested in knowing what tea that is. Because wheat starch might be “gluten free” (I think in the States it’s 10ppm?) but I react to really small quantities and have been assured in the past that everything is gluten free. Obviously that’s not the case.
The David’s Tea was Happy Kombucha, it had gluten free wheat starch in it and they still haven’t gotten back to my email.
David’s Tea finally got back to me.Their answer was unsatisfactory. They say it contains wheat starch with the proteins removed then tested for gluten. As I understand this process a small amount of gluten in left in the wheat starch, there is no way to remove it all. If it is say 15 ppm of gluten that may be below the level of gluten free. Problem is that would be for 1 tsp of tea. What about the person who uses 4 tsp tea in his tea, he may consume enough gluten to get sick. They have not yet developed a process that can remove 100% of the Gluten from wheat starch.
