Looking for the best loose rooibos tea... suggestions?

Hi everyone. I am trying to find a really nice rooibos tea. I am looking for loose-leaf rather than bags. I am okay with plain rooibos but my favorite is vanilla rooibos. So far I’ve tried Allegro brand vanilla rooibos. It wasn’t bad, but not incredible. I then got “Red Rocks” from The Tea Spot, which has rooibos with vanilla flavor and almonds. It surprisingly doesn’t taste much like any of its ingredients, and rather has a sort of tart cherry tobacco flavor. Not really my thing.

I like rooibos with creamy, vanilla or honey like flavors, or maybe even with some spice or floral. I’m really not interested in fruity rooibos. I’ve had plenty of those and never really liked any.

Anyone have a favorite brand?

My favorite is Cederburg Harvest Green Rooibos from Simpson and Vail, www.svtea.com.

I’ve been quite impressed with Løv Organic’s rooibos blends so far. Their flavoring is light but I can still taste it, and it goes well with the rooibos base. They have a vanilla version, but I haven’t tried it.

Almond Rooibos

Løv is Zen (apple, orange, caramel)

Løvely Night (has a lot of ingredients, tastes like apple cinnamon)

(I know you said no fruity, but Zen is more dessert and Night is spiced)

Cornelia Bean’s London Fog rooibos is one of my all time favourite drinks ever. It’s got lots of vanilla, citrus peel and creamy notes and tastes very much like a London Fog. I could send you a sample if you wanted to try it before buying.

Wow, they have so many interesting-looking rooibos blends. :)

Peet’s Coffee & Tea has a Rooibos Chai that is amazing. I just looked for it here and it is not in Steepster’s data base. It’s absolutely delicious with sweet, balanced spices. One of my new all time favorite rooibos blends and chai blends.

Ceylon tea bush makes a great honey rooibos and it comes both bagged and loose. It actually smells/tastes like honey.

The only rooibos I’ve found that I really like is Boston Tea Co.‘s Lemon, Honey & Chamomile. It’s a green rooibos rather than red. I like to put a little bit of vanilla in my cup as well. :)

Just tried Lupicia’s Caramel & Rum and it’s super good if you like butterscotch. :)

My alltime favourite rooibos teas are Earl Grey Rooibos (Rishi, David’s Tea, Tealux, or PC Black Label) and Lemon merengue rooibos (Tealish).
I get my earl grey rooibos from a variety of sources. Rishi was the first one I tried and loved but am trouble finding it in Whole Foods. PC Black Label is a bagged tea (yes sometimes I love the convenience) but they are discontinuing it. Tealux is the best deal for quality but you have to place a certain amount to get free shipping.
