I still have some from Teaopia back when it was a separate company from Teavana. Unfortunately it’s hella bitter so I only drink it as a medicinal tea when I’m feeling unwell. It sounds like this one tastes much better which is curious because I’m reasonably certain they’re the same plant.

one teaspoon(ish) in my filter mug steeped in boiling water for 5 minutes.

Yeah, this tea suggests a different brewing method. I brought 12 ounces of water to a “near boil” on the stovetop, and then put in a handful of the leaves and flowers, and brought the water to a full boil and let it boil for 3 minutes and turned off the heat and let it steep for another 3 minutes.

I don’t know if the brew method had anything to do with the bitterness. I just know that I didn’t experience any bitterness like you said you did.
