Your Black Friday plan?

I have heard several people say they have pre shopped with their favorite suppliers in preparation for some possibly good sales this week.

What are you planning to buy, from where, if the prices are good?

I haven’t got much plans at all. I was hoping to get something from Whispering Pines but I don’t think I will go overboard (but don’t hold me to that!) I have plenty of teas. I like spreading my purchases out a bit.

What were you planning Marzipan?

Oh I don’t know. I think the sales will have to be pretty exciting for me to order much since I have so much.

I really want to order from Lupicia. So I’ll probably just do a huge order from them and nothing else unless there’s some kind of fantastic sale elsewhere.

Is Lupica doing anything for BF? I didn’t think they participated.

I don’t think they are, but I’m waiting just to make sure. :D

Looks like they are! 20% off in stores on Friday and 20% off $50 or more online on Monday. I don’t think there is $50 worth of tea that I need/want from them at the moment. I’m curious about a couple of the winter teas, but that is about it right now.

YAY! :D

I’m in on Lupicia….

Thank you Dustin!!! I was wondering that myself. I dont live near one so I was hoping they would be doing online sales!

I wish they had been doing a free shipping option. I order from them often enough that there are only two Xmas teas that I want to try at the moment, which brings my total to $15 and shipping would be $7. :(
I guess I’ll have to plan better next year and not make an order any time before BF.

My plan is to not look so I don’t buy. We’ll see how long I can resist!

Yep that’s my plan too. Hoping to get through the weekend without buying any tea. There are a couple of yixing pots that I have my eye on that I might consider if they go on sale.

So how ya doing so far? I placed a David’s order for one tea and a travel mug since they had free shipping and I’m planning on placing a Butiki order tomorrow. So much for not looking!

Dexter said

That’s not toooooo bad – one tea,one mug – then one order tomorrow. Seems like you are keeping it under control.
I’ve actually been really good – I’ve bought nothing so far. I’m still looking at some teaware, but it’s not on sale so there isn’t any incentive to buy right now. Will take one more look around tomorrow – but I think I may actually get through this year without buying anything – who would have believed that possible? :))

Dex…if you do manage…go until at least January! That will be 6 months!

Wow! That is amazing! I was going to try to not buy any tea this year, but have failed pretty miserably at it.

I’m caving – buying Cacao from the new store that just posted in the misc sale thread. I haven’t bought tea since 25Jul14 – technically this is chocolate not tea, but it counts – but that was pretty good for me….

I’m planning a Verdant order and a Whispering Pines order. I also need to pick up 3 mugs from DAVIDs Tea.

Is David’s having a mug special for BF? See?!?!?! I need to look away, even from this thread!

I sincerely hope so because they are for gifts. Also added Butiki to my plans. ;)

I went nuts on Della Terra Black Friday orders in the past and had no regrets except the raisin cookie wich I still have in my cupboard. I plan to go again this year, fairly large order again. Previously my purchases were blind, now I’m going to go with the ones I know I liked and get a few others to try. I found that even if I don’t care for the tea, it doesn’t burn so much if I only paid half the price. :)

Teajo is something I’m considering also but it’d be small, they don’t have much in the way of variety.

Sadly lupicia doesn’t do canada or it’d be the top of my list.

Verdant I might look at but I just received my order from them this week so … Not much else I want.

I’m empty on a lot of DAVIDs so if they participate in BF — last year they didn’t — I will go there too.

Tealux and H&S are toward the end of my list also.

Lupicia does Canada. You can just place your order online – add a comment in the note to seller box requesting shipping quote to Canada – they will send you an email with the additional shipping charge – if you agree with it they will send you a PayPal invoice for the additional charge, if not they will cancel order and refund what you had paid. I’ve ordered from them a few times. Large orders 80.00 – 100.00 have had shipping in the 17.00 – 20.00 range. I’ve whined about it and gotten the same shipping as Alaska/Hawaii (15.00 over 60.00). Yes it’s a pain in the butt, but currently they are my fav source of flavored teas. :))

I wondered how Canadian people got around that pesky shipping nuisance! Thanks, Dex. I really appreciate the tip. Guess I have some homework tomorrow. :)

I am doing my level best to restrain myself, as I really don’t need more tea right now! That being said, I will be ordering from TeaSource (mostly Christmas gifts for a couple of tea-loving friends) and Butiki (justifying this one because it may be my last chance to stock up on some teas I really love). And then I will shut the laptop and walk away quickly before I am drawn in by all of these other tempting sales…

Most of the good sales involve free shipping, but few seem to include Canada, so that limits my options. Definitely Della Terra, and being tempted by the idea of trying Whispering Pines, and some Verdant blends. Definitely not going as crazy this year, since I still have a bunch from last Black Friday that I didn’t drink enough to finish. I can learn! We’ll see if I can stick to that.

Have you ordered from Silk Road before? They’re offering free shipping to Canada on orders over $50 + 25% off orders over $50 using code LUCKYGNOME2014

Dustin said

Lucky gnome! That’s cute!

Reki275 said

I haven’t tried them yet, $50 is a bit much to gamble, but I’ll have to look into it, thanks!

Thought I was gonna spend way more…But now that everyone is posting their sales, I mainly just wanna order from Butiki (one last time :(), Verdant (gotta get Golden Fleece!!), Della Terra, Yezi Tea(mainly just wanna get one tea xD), and maybeee Whispering Pines.
A few places I wanted to order from don’t seem to be doing sales…so that’s a bummer. I’ve only ordered from Art of Tea and Iherb so far. And those weren’t much money at all.
