Yunnan Sourcing Monthly Tea Club

OK.

Here’s the list of teas we’ll offer for those who subscribe in November. SPOILER ALERT!

http://yunnansourcing.com/en/content/23-yunnan-sourcing-tea-club-monthly-list-of-teas

They look amazing – I’m definitely tempted by the Dark Tea one… I’ll see how my finances are doing in ~10 days time and then decide whether or not to put in an order (that will still be early enough for the November box, right??)

I’m tempted by the Premium plan. My only concern is that when I was in Verdant Tea Club I got stung with Customs Tax, it meant that a $50 club order became $82 with tax…frankly it just wasn’t worth it so I had to cancel. How do you intend to send your club teas?

One of my favorite teas is in the club and is limited anyway. Having a mild panic attack right now. :/

I know this is pretty much a done deal, but I’m just curious why there is so much pu in the dark tea box if there is also a pu box?

@Red Fennekin if you join in November you get those items… on December 1st I’ll make a new offering for that month.

@KittyLovesTea Are you in Canada? We would ship from China. We can declare as $10 or whatever you need us to. It would be delivered by regular post (not DHL, UPS or Fedex).

@Marzipan For the Dark Tea Club we were planning to do 2 ripe pu-erhs, 2 black teas and another “dark tea” each month. The cake is a bonus for this month, since we are launching. 225 grams of tea (we advertise 100 grams).

Thanks for the clarification! If you end up doing a version that has black teas – Dian Hong, Jin Jun Mei, et al, I know a lot of people would be interested. There are a lot of people who love blacks but aren’t yet pu heads (three in the chat room right now saying that).

@Marzipan Since nobody has joined that group yet I removed one ripe sample and replaced with one black (awesome) black tea.

Since we have so many awesome black teas, we’ll focus mostly on those and roasted oolongs, but still with a smattering of ripe pu-erh and hei cha (Liu Bao, Fu Zhuan, Tian Jian).

Thanks, I signed up! If you sub in other blacks for the pu that’s there it won’t break my heart either!

Actually I’m in United Kingdom. Thank you that would help, I will have to seriously think it over this weekend :) You’re club came at the wrong time for me money wise as I’m about to move house but I may just be able to squeeze it in.

@marzipan OK… do you just not drink Ripe Pu-erh? The 1997 CNNP sample is pretty amazing. Just needs short steeping times to get it going.

@KittyLovesTea ok… well, no hurry we are here and if you sign up just remind me about the Customs declaration and I will make sure to do it when sending.

I have tried several different kinds of pu, both ripe and raw. But I seem to have to make myself go drink it. I keep hoping that with enough exposure I will learn to love it (I think of it a lot like learning to like good wine versus “wine for beginners”) I really love all of the different black teas that I have though from various companies. Everything from Dian Hong to Ailaoshan Black to Honey Black.

@Marzipan Understood… well I will swap out that cake and send some more black tea for you instead. I’ll keep the old pu-erh sample in there and maybe you like it.

(In response to your response to my response (!)): Ah, that’s wonderful – thanks! :-) The whole package, including the bonus Puerh cake, sounds absolutely incredible. I will definitely be signing up, if I can get the money together (which I should be able to).

@Red Fennekin Glad to hear it! I’ll try to make each month something good and interesting. As we get more members will starting doing some exclusive stuff that isn’t for sale on the site.

man the premium and the pu package both interest me…i just have so many puerh samples in my cupboard…so indecisive. I know i’ll be picking this up for sure…just not sure if it’ll be this month or another month.

@Sil I understand… well we’ll be here if you want to join. Of course you can just stock up on whatever you want by using the website too. ;-)

There looks to be some really great teas in the November Premium Plan. As well, great plans! Unfortunately, I get too overloaded with tea when going for a Monthly Tea Club. I’d like it if there were only tiny samples sent out with more variety. Then if I loved something I would just order it.

@ubacat We’d have to charge more for more samples… the labor is a major factor in all this. Normally many of these are available only as whole cakes, or 50 grams or some the minimum is 100 grams. If you look at what you are getting for the amount of money paid it’s incredibly cheap. Drink the teas and if you have ones left over keep them for later or give to others you know who like tea. Better yet get a largish teapot and make tea for friends and family.

I’ll keep it in mind. I liked the variety of the Premium plan but not the quantity.

I am frustrated most international Tea clubs refuse to ship to the Netherlands. What’s wrong with this small dot on the globe and its people??!!

Hi Sandra, The main reason is I don’t have ability to send the the e-packet (Express Mail Small Parcel) to Netherlands, so sending a small amount of tea is quite expensive. If you make an order on the site and order a larger quantity the shipping rate will be cheaper per dollar spent. I love the Netherlands!!! Are you kidding?!?! ;-)

I just came up with an idea of having a monthly tea club partner to split the teas with. One receives for a few months and ships out to the other and then they swap. I thought it was a good plan anyway. Anyone want to become a tea club partner with me for the Premium Plan? Someone in my country (Canada) would probably be best but it might work shipping out of country too (not sure of the shipping costs).

Would it be possible to only subscribe for a month at a time? I haven’t tried much pu-erh and this sounds like a great introduction but I don’t think I can handle 100g of it a month at my current tea consumption rate.

You should be able to. I don’t think Yunnan Sourcing is requiring that you commit for more than a month.

Just cancel your subscription on paypal after you pay for the first month.

Yes… you can just join and then un-subscribe.

To un-subscribe you can use this link:

http://yunnansourcing.com/en/content/22-unsubscribe-from-monthly-tea-club

Or if you feel more comfortable, you can just paypal me $30.00 and choose which November plan you like.

Thanks for the information! I just wanted to know what the minimum commitment was. I think I will subscribe for a few months and see how it goes :)

Cool… thanks for giving us a chance!

I like that idea. Think I might do this when my cupboard is not so overloaded.

I’ll second (or third or whatever it is) what others have said here: I am absolutely impressed by the level of responsiveness to the customers here! This sounds like a great subscription. Unfortunately, I will be unable to get in on the November plan. Hopefully in the near future though!

This is soo tempting, as I have not tried any YS teas and this would be a great way to get started trying some :D my recent (aka over a month long) pu’erh kick has me leaning towards the pu subscription…although the dark looks lovely too! But Black Friday is coming up..must save tea funds..or just go for this..decisions, decisions!

you should totally go for this :)
if you havent tried YS before this is a great start for some great teas

Haha it is so tempting..but I have soo much tea already that I should drink down…so tough to decide :(

Done! I signed up up!
Thanks for doing this Scott!

And I just realized I accidentally signed up for the Dark club, when actually I want the Pu club.

I am in agreement with Marzipan. I am not a pu head. I drink blacks that carry milk and a touch of sweetness well. One day I will find a subscription that has enough of a limited selection to make it worth it… glad to see the amazing customer service happening here!
