When does a yixing teapot start giving back?
I’ve had mine since the spring and have been using it for oolongs. I wasn’t using it too much in the beginning ( and definitely not if trying a new oolong) because it would soak up all the flavour. Now I’m finding it’s not too bad but it’s definitely not giving back yet. Wondering how long I have to wait before that happens? I try to have an oolong once a day but that doesn’t always happen. Because of this, yixing teapots are not my favourite teapots right now.
Some people brew their tea in a non-porous teapot and use the yixing pot as a pitcher until it’s been seasoned enough by continual use until it’s ready to be used as an actual teapot. Maybe that would be a better solution for you.
It got it from Teavirve. I didn’t use it too much in the beginning.
madametj, not sure I’m following you. It doesn’t seem to make sense to brew it in a non-porous pot and then pour it into a yixing pot which would absorb the flavours. or did I not understand?
