I took a risk and got Cotton candy and Caramel Corn ordered today…so easy to spend 50$ worth of tea there. I might have to get more of the cotton candy if it’s as good as it looks :P
Sorry, that doesn’t answer your question. XD I am just excited. I’m sure there gonna be awesome teas.

Those were the two I was considering getting! I might just bite the bullet and place the big ole order I’ve been dreaming of placing after I try the samples you sent me. I also want to get the Seashells Bubble cups, some tins, and the White Chocolate frost is calling for me even though its 250g of a tea I’ve never tried. And looking at Lime Gelato, Vanilla Orchid,Chocolate Macaroon, Read My Lips, Salted Caramel, and like so many more that I’m just going to stop there. So yes, I can definitely see it being easy to spend $50 there

Just do it! It will be worth it! You won’t regret it! :P

My heart says yes, my wallet say rents almost due and you don’t have a job bozo! Ah, whats a girl to do?

Mandy, if you hate white chocolate frost, let me know. It is my daily tea (mixed with DT coffee cake). I stocked up to tide me until next winter, but it was an inexact hoarding, so I’m open to more.

White Chocolate Frost was one I really didn’t like. I’m hardly the one to talk since I’ve still got 100s of grams of teas that I bought on impulse (years ago now!) but I suggest you hold off and only get larger quantities of things you know you love. 50 grams is a lot for some people but a much safer quantity. If you’re anywhere near a store, you can get any quantity in store and could at least try it first! :)

Grrrlhowdy said

I agree. I have a lot of 250g bags from before I even knew what type of teas I liked, let alone what flavor. I still have to hold myself back & scrutinize Steepster reviews when I see the DT sale page.

Mandy said

If only there was a store closer than 1100 miles, it would solve all my problems. I most likely won’t get it. I was thinking the same thing, that’s a lot of tea if I end up not liking it.

Uniquity said

Wow, that is quite a distance for an afternoon jaunt! :)

I bit the bullet and ordered 250 grams of the Black Jasmine Pearls but it is one I have had before and really enjoy. At the sale price it was also equivalent to Teavivre Black Dragon Pearls which I was due to re-stock soon. It’ll still take me ages!

From Cotton Candy:

Some people call it fairy floss. Others go for spun sugar. We like the classic “cotton candy.” But whatever you want to call it, we can all agree on one thing: it’s seriously delicious and ridiculously fun. And this tea was developed with our favourite carnival treat in mind. It combines nut brittle, candied mango and cotton candy sprinkles with a smooth, sweet base of red rooibos. The result? All the fun and flavour of the real thing, at next to no calories. It’s a carnival in a cup.

Green rooibos, sprinkles, mango, brittle, natural and artificial flavouring.

Which is it?

TheTeaFairy did a tasting note since she got a sample with her order. It is green rooibos.

I emailed them and they replied:
Cotton Candy is indeed a Carnival in a cup. It is delicious! The reason why both red and green rooibos are listed in the ingredients is that Cotton Candy is actually a blend of Green and Red Rooibos ! It seems like one might be missing from the list of ingredients, and I will make sure to contact our Copyright team and get this fixed right away !

How long are they going to have these? I don’t live close enough to a David’s to get them until next month or later.

Grrrlhowdy said
I imagine DT made enough that they’ll be around for a month — maybe not all the mugs, but probably the teas.

A month? Er… hope I get to go by soon.

I just ordered. Got caramel corn, hot tropics and the Ferris wheel mug, plus a few other treats to make $50 (stackable tins are my weakness, as space is tight).

Grrrlhowdy said

Infuser mugs are my weakness, too. And 16 oz. timolinos.

I tried both Caramel Corn and Cotton Candy iced in store today. I’m not one for overly sweet teas so I don’t know if I’m the person to ask on this; both were sweet. Cotton candy was a bit mild, and very sweet (looked adorable in loose leaf though). Caramel Corn is a pretty nice balance of caramel and the salty, nutty popcorn flavor. If you like salted caramel as a flavor it will be up your alley. I took a sniff of the root beer tea dry and it was powerful! Not sure how it brews up. I saw one of the brewers at the store use the color change mug and it was every bit as bright and whimsical as you could hope. Changed from blue ferris wheel to green ferris wheel (maybe some of the other details changed too) in a moment of two of being hot. Hope this is helpful!

Grrrlhowdy said

Yay — I am glad to hear salted caramel is not as sweet. I do like caramel corn (well, never eat it these days, though I made it from scratch once, and that was an adventure). And the mug sounds fun. I haven’t had a color-change mug before.
I dislike rootbeer to drink, so that was an easy pass.

Couldn’t resist the balloon mug, although I may save it for a friends birthday gift.

I wish David’s Tea would set up a shop in WA!! :’-( So close…yet so far. The Carnival collection (especially the Caramel Corn) sounds too good to pass up. Oh Steepster, thou art the late night QVC for teas.

Checkout complete – I regret nothing. o__O

Wish I had a store near me, too. I went nuts when I got to visit the NYC store. The DT 1-cup sample packs have helped a lot. And the sample boxes, too.

I live in central Florida. The closest one to me is literally 1100 miles away.

Ost said

I feel your pain, Mandy…I live on the outskirts of LA, in the opposite direction of anywhere close to SanFran where there are DAVIDsTEAs :P I probably will not make it up there ever even.

Mandy said

I would kill to have one in my state, even if it was on the other side of the state! The closest one to me is in New York, over 1000 miles away, and a ~35 hour round trip. Florida seems to be a tea desert, especially Orlando. It’so tragic.

Ost said

That’s a bummer!
Do you have any other tea places there?
I just have Teavana here.

Mandy said

Within 20-30 minutes of where I live? Nothing that I know of. A little over 30 minutes away and you hit a Teavana one direction, and a local tea shop that I keep meaning to check out in the other. You would think that with Orlando being such a world wide tourist hub you’d be bound to have a couple tea shops, but nope.

Ost said

That is really weird! I would think that since it’s more touristy it would have something like that…Guess tourists just care about Disneyworld. xD DavidsTea should expand more…

I have no clue as to why they haven’t opened shop in Seattle (or Portland). If I drove far enough north, they could just slingshot my order to me…

I guess I shouldn’t complain since the BC one is only 3 hours away…but to take the ferry is $126 (plus would have to renew my passport), which makes it difficult to justify the trip. >_<

Disney, Universal & Islands of Adventure, Sea World, and Busch Gardens (Technically in Tampa but still). Orlando has been voted number one family vacation destinations a few times, and yet no tea shops. We get a lot of Asian and British tourists too. You would think there’d be the demand for it. The only big tea store besides Teavana that I know of in Florida is Nina’s Paris down in Miami, which is a 4 hour drive.

Ost said

I didn’t know that Nina’s Paris actually had a tea shop. That’s kinda cool actually.
Yeah, that is weird…one of my dad’s workers who lives in China came and visited us a few years ago and she wanted to go to all the amusement parks, and every place we went she always wanted to find some kind of tea. xD Like that’s all she wanted in the day, that was her pick me up :P So that is weird that there aren’t more tea places…wow, this is like way off topic now xD

VariaTEA said

Nina’s doesn’t have a shop. At least not yet. Their offices are in Miami though.

Mandy said

No shop? Huh, totally thought it was a shop too.

VariaTEA said

I was there in March and they didn’t have a shop. However, they did let me visit their offices to try teas and buy those that I wanted to buy.

I received a DT gift card for my birthday but it turns out that they don’t accept Gift Cards online. I wish they took orders over the phone or mail orders…otherwise I now have a card that I can’t use. :-/

Mandy said

Try seeing if someone who lives by one would be willing to trade you for it or something.

If I don’t end up taking a drive over the summer then I’ll definitely look into it.

TheKesser said

I’ve been hearing rumours (mostly on FB) about them looking into getting the GCs set up soon online. I’m not sure when it’ll happen, but hopefully it won’t be too long for you. I’m hoping too… My closest DT isn’t as far… Only an hour drive, but I find it so much cheaper to just order online than driving there. Again, not that far really, but just far enough that I don’t go there very often…

Dustin said

That is pretty lame that they don’t accept gift cards online! Can you call in an order and use it? Seems like a major flaw.

TeaLady441 said

They have really good customer service though. Maybe if you emailed them they’d be able to offer up some kind of solution, especially since you don’t live near a DT?

TheKesser I know what you mean about the driving. I do most of my tea and gift shopping online just because it’s so convenient. I read a post that mentioned they were working on it…but the post was from 2013.

Dustin Right?! :( I called their customer service and explained the situation: received a gift card for my birthday and the closest David’s tea is a state (or country away) but all they said was; “Sorry, you can only use it in store.” I asked if I could place an order over the phone but they said no. _ Maybe I should’ve asked if I could place a mail order?

Cavocorax Yeah, the nearest David’s Tea requires a 3hr drive and me getting a passport. I don’t get why they haven’t opened a shop in Seattle since it’s much closer to them then SanFrancisco? Good idea, I might try emailing them too. Ideally they could use the GC to credit my account. I imagine that their sales would increase if they offered gift cards online and with the new frequent Steeper it could work like the Starbucks cards.
