Your Favorite East Frisian/Ostfriesen Tea?
Hi, are there any other fans of this type of Assam blend on Steepster? Any recommendations about vendors? Upton has two — a regular and a whole-leaf — plus a vanilla-scented one called “East Frisian Sunday Tea.” Would be glad to hear about your favorites. Thanks!
I think the one I had that I liked a lot was from Simpson & Vail. I haven’t tried Upton’s.
I’ve only had Harney & Sons…. It’s a favorite in our tea rotation, especially on chilly days
In usually buy my Frisian locally (live close to the German Frisian border :)) so that is a plus.
when I do/need to buy on line, this one http://www.edeltee.de/schwarzer-tee.html is a great vendor. Have ordered with them many times, shipping is superfast and services is excellent!
I have like 30+ tasting notes on the Upton BOP varietal. It is honestly my favorite tea, period – the one I’d take with me on a desert island, etc. It’s quite cheap too, which is fortuitous as I go through a lot of it.
This vanilla one has me intrigued though – how did I not know they sold it??? I’ve been searching for a vanilla black so when I place my next order I’ll have to add some to my cart.
Someone educate me on these? What makes them unique?
There is an interesting article about it here:

This is really interesting, my husband is Danish – and grew up near the Denmark/Germany border, but has never heard of this. Now I am kicking myself because on our last trip we drove down to Germany to go shopping, but I wasn’t a tea person then.
genuine Frisian tea is a blend, sometimes with vanilla, and served with whipped cream (and rum :)) it’s truly yummy. I am more into green teas, but drink this a lot too!
