Teas you can't stomach...
Smoky teas can send my stomach rolling sometimes, and some red rooibos teas can give me a headache. I can’t drink mate on an empty stomach either (been gradually switching myself over to guayusa, because I don’t have the same issues) because I wind up with both issues. But that’s about it.
Green Lime by Island Rose.
I love everything by this company expect for this tea. It’s the first time I have only taken a few sips and had to toss out.
Yerba mate. Just. Bleeh. It doesn’t so much make me straight up nauseous, as my stomach uneasy and gives me a bit of a headache.
I’ve had the same reaction to roasted Yerba Mate. Though most of the ‘Green’ Mate teas from Teavana I have liked and have no problem with.
Wow guys. I’m glad I’m not the only one, and yet sad at the same time, because it’s such a bummer to not be able to drink tea willy nilly, lol.
No tea makes me feel ill just drinking them but most flavored teas make me feel ill when I smell them. Ill clarify to say teas scented with natural flowers are no problem….good quality jasmine for example. Butthose fruity, candy filled concoctions by Teavana, and others are NOT good!
ugh, like that awful cloyingly candy sweet type smell? I hate when I smell strong perfumes like that too
Green tea almost always upsets my stomach. I can get the same issue with green oolongs and occasionally white teas. I can stomach flavoured greens and whites on occasion but I am pretty averse to green by now. Even thinking about it makes my tummy a bit queasy.
If I drink too much black tea it contributes to heartburn, but only bothers me in conjunction with other issues such as stress. I normall drink unflavoured black tea and the odd herbal but once every couple months I get the heartburn issue. Also I LOVE mint but too much mint (food or tea) does the same. Darn it!
Bummer! Mint is one of my favorites!
Occasionally I have stress induced costochondritis O.o not fun at all!
Earl Grey. Absolutely awful tea IMHO – the cheaper it is the nastier it is. And then people put milk in it… good god.
No love for Lapsang either – far too intense on the smokiness which I don’t mind in say a nice Russian Caravan tea.
Oolong I can take or love, some I really like others I can’t stand.
Whittards Pu-erh – one of a few teas I’ve binned as it tasted like raw fish and soil in a cup. Mmmmmm lovely.
While I didn’t search very hard for an answer regarding the nausea, I feel compelled to share a little something with you guys. A great way to help “cut through the crap” so to speak when looking for studies on the internet is by using “Google Scholar” which is kind of like “advance search” for Google. It’s a nice way to get to scholarly literature easily. I’m sure this may be old news to some people, but I figured I would pass on this nugget of info to those who may not :)
