Tea ideas for work
Hello everyone
I’ve been trying to get my minimum amount of 2+ L’s of water a day. I usually do this by consuming more than half of it in tea. I’ve noticed a large amount of discoloration in my teeth, even to the point where people have made comments. Sux.
Anyways, so I’ve been trying to think of different brewing ideas to still allow me to drink as much tea as i want :) yet not destroy my dental aesthetics (sorry I guess Im vain;)
From reading some great discussions here I’ve come up with these ideas.
1. Cold brewing in my 1L mason jar. From what I hear cold brew releases less tannins = less stains. BUT it just takes sooo long!!!
2. Flash Chill chill in 1L mason jar. Would using less water with the same amount of tea = a stronger mix once diluted? Would the dilution help to prevent teeth discoloration?
If anyone has any other suggestions Please let me know.
Thank you and sorry for the long post.
If you are drinking it cold, use a straw? A guy I used to work with drank iced tea & soda all the time and swore by the straw method.
Thank you Nicole. Sometimes I use a bombilla, that way I don’t have to worry about filtering loose tea and is a straw but my dentist said that it wouldn’t make much difference unless I put it half way down my throat! eck
I find that amusing because all the pre-dental students at my college swore by the straw method too. I didn’t see the point because with the straw past your molars, you can’t really enjoy the taste of tea/soda/etc, so unless you’re drinking for the caffeine/sugar/whatever you might as well just drink water.
- I would be careful if you ended up flash chilling in a mason jar- if it’s glass, the heat shock can shatter the glass and cause a mess.
-I’ve found an electric toothbrush helps lots!
The staining could be pertaining to dental care as well. The tea may be staining your teeth, but how you deal with it can help or not help the problem.
Here is a thread on the topic. http://steepster.com/discuss/4968-tea-and-yellow-teeth
Thank you LaLa. I do regular cleanings (every 6 months) and my dentist is always telling me to do a bleaching but I have done it in the past and it hurt my teeth for weeks after and the discoloration came back anyways. I
I guess I’m looking for more of a ‘tea drinking habit’ that would help minimize stains.
What about herbal teas? They don’t have tannins do they? I would think white teas would stain less. Don’t take my word for it as I am just thinking out loud. :) Out loud?
I use whitening toothpaste once a day… It works fine and I’m drinking a lot of black tea every day. I would think that a herbal or white tea would stain less…
