mint tea from nepal

I was in Nepal in the fall, and everywhere had mint tea that is not minty at all. It reminds me of oolong. I thought it would be a good caffeine free substitute since it’s an herbal tea (and bought 500mg of it). Google fails me though when trying to find more information. Can anyone shed some light on this?
