Native American Herbal Tisanes

As I live in the heart of Native American land I’d love to hear more about your company and where you’re located?

Hi Zack and Darby. We are located in Aberdeen, SD. We were founded on the Crow reservation in southern Montana back in 1987. Our blends are based on Native stories and legends.

I’ve only ever tried Lapacho. Which other ones do you recommend?
Also, I am curious as to what makes your green and black tea Native American? Is it a special varietal? or is there a special way it is processed?

I’m interested to know why these would be called tisanes when some of them have tea in them. I was under the impressions that tisanes did not have tea in them. They sound interesting but why are they considered Native American?

Hi Indigobloom and Carol Who. The green and black teas were actually added much later. We have our 6 signature blends that have been around since 1987. Some of the ingredients have changed (FDA didn’t care for them) but for this most part have stayed the same. Victory Tea is a blend that has rose hips, hibiscus, and wild cherry bark. The Crow Native Americans and the Blackfeet Nation would often steal horses from one another. Often the raiding parties would carry these herbs with them for their lightness in weight, good nutrition, easy consumption, and quick energy when needed. If they had a successful raid, the would celebrate with a “Victory” feast. A new website will be launching shortly that will have the entirety of each story told.

Carol, ran out of room on the last post! Haha! 5 of the 8 are tisanes. Probably the most interesting is the Warrior’s Brew which combines black tea with an herbal blend. Warrior’s Brew is one of our most popular blends in the winter due to it’s cinnamon taste. It boasts a blend of herbs that contain Star Anise amongst others.

Thanks for the info. I didn’t mean to sound like was criticizing just looking for more info. The teas and tisanes sound interesting and I would like to see about sample sizes, as I don’t wan’t to spend too much on unreviewed teas. If you send some samples I would be glad to review them on Steepster for you. There are only a couple tasting notes on the site and I’m sure you would like a few more. :)
