Yorkshire Gold or PG Tips?
There is a local store that sells these brands of tea, but I know nothing about them. Which one should I try first? What is the difference? Thanks!
They are both English, I think the Yorkshire Gold is somewhat heavier, maltier than the PG Tips. Think English Breakfast. If you like EB teas, either would be fine. If you have some concern, try the Tips first, as it is a bit lighter. Don’t overbrew them. In bags, Tips is my fav.
Marlena’s got it mainly right, but just to give this discussion balance, I prefer Yorkshire! I think it possibly has a little more Indian tea in rather than the Kenyan stuff in the PG Tips, though it’s actually a little while since I had Yorkshire, so I might be wrong. They are both okay for tea bags but nothing special
A tip for brewing though… especially with the PG Tips (which come in a pyramid bag), they brew very very quickly, so don’t let it steep for the full 2/5-3 mins, or you will have to add tonnes of milk to take away the bitterness and the orange colour. 20-30 seconds is usually enough, it’s astonishing how quickly it happens
I brew my tips for 2-3 minutes and it has only been bitter when its getting old or when I don’t filter the water – our tap water can be kina bad sometimes.
Haha, the monkey is very cute! My kids will really like this! Thanks again for all the info.
I like both but prefer yorkshire gold myself. It’s probably just cause it’s what my grandmother used to give me as a kid though.
Drinking them as english breakfast teas is totally about comfort and happy memories as opposed to superior tea for me.
