Do you ever make the same tea twice in a row?

I can’t remember the last time that I allowed myself to drink more than one cup or pot of the same tea in a row (exceptions made for oolongs and things that should be steeped more than once)
but lately ALL I want to drink are two white teas that I have in my cupboard and Movie night. And I find myself feeling guilty for not drinking a wider variety lately.
How do you approach your teas? Do you focus on specific ones at different times? Or do your cravings change with every cup?

I know the feeling. I had this with a few teas after I got them:
Butiki Teas – watermelon xylophone
52 Teas – peanut butter cup cheesecake
Steep City Teas – Coconut Grove & Ginger Zinger (current culprit)

I try and stop at like 3 times in a row, as I’m scared I’ll either drink the entire pouch right away getting mad and having to reorder or get tired of the tea.

Rarely do I do that. The last time I did, it was more because I had 1 cup worth left, and once I was done with it I could justify buying more tea. LOL.

I will often drink one tea repeatedly to get rid of it when I am trying to make room in my tea stash.
But if it is one of my favorite teas, I tend to savour it, limiting how much I drink it so it lasts longer.

I sometimes steep a new tea I like until the flavour is gone. Usually I like to try different teas. Especially if I got some in the post recently.

I do this every day at work. I have 2 or 3 steepings of the same tea and usually switch to something else for the ride home. I also make iced tea 64 or 128 oz at a time and it lasts for a few days.

I feel obligated to keep drinking a different tea until I’ve tried everything that I have, including swaps and samples. I do occasionally go for an old tried and true, especially if I’ve had a rough day or don’t feel good.

never. unless I am sick, and even then I don’t recall doing that. Well, I do brew a pot of tea every now and then, which is kinda similar I suppose!

Sick time is great for crushing teas you don’t like :)

so true!! but I tend to go with the Ayurvedics in that case. or ones that take honey well! :P

Frequently, ESPECIALLY if I’m super depressed. I find what comforts me most and stick to it til I need something else. I’m usually pretty good at mixing it up though

Pumpkin teas all day for me.

All the time. I don’t have much of a collection. I’ll buy something, drink through it and then try something new. I feel bad hoarding stuff. I’m like this with everything though, not just tea.

I wish I was able to finish teas without buying more in the meantime! I’m a hoarder, though. I like the variety too much.

Over the past couple of years I’ve realized I have an obsessive personality and I go through stages of being totally into things and then abandoning them. I don’t want to buy a whole bunch of teas knowing in 6 months I might switch right back over to black coffee! stares at piles of running equipment

That’s smart. See, I’m obsessive too, but in an oppisite way. I want to own ALL the tea. =P
I love trying out new teas. But I get what you mean. Sometimes that happens to me and I end up having a tea sitting in my cupboard for wayyy too long. Maybe one day I’ll have some self control…

Oh CREAM! I’m totally the same. I’m ashamed of all the tea I have but love to buy more! Lol. I really need tea friends to come and sip with me, that part of the draw of tea to me. I’m trying hard to convert them.

I’m like Emily, every time I go to make tea I use something new, brew it twice and then half the time I forget its there. The upside to this is that in like 2 weeks time when I want something I haven’t had in a bit, it pops up and viola, I have something ‘new’ all over again. I just need to stop buying so I can catch up lol.

just yesterday: i recently discovered East Frisian tea (a blend of the strongest assams, ceylon teas and darjeerlings – ) and i had 4 large mugs. yummie. :)
it’s usually taken with rock sugar (brown) and whipped cream.
i was almost high on sugar lol.

i normally drink more than one sencha/gyokuru per day.

and as said, if i want to get rid of a certain tea, i drink a cup extra, to make space for another one :)

sounds good. mmm whipped cream
