My tea journey started here so we are recreating 'Steepster' on Discord!
I’ve got a team of mods who are implementing the new ‘forum’ on Discord!

Right now we are still playing around but pretty soon we are creating an area that will include reviews only listed tagged by type of tea and vendor name so you can search for people discussing a specific tea. What’s really nifty if that we can throw in pictures, videos, search function, tagging, and much more!
Lots to come with many more improvements. Right now we have a channel to directly speak to Crimson Lotus Tea, Essence of Tea, and Liquid Proust.
Hoping to add more vendor channels, improved ease of usage, and more video/voice chats.
Feel free to stop in and say hi!

(Seeing as I’ve already been lurking in the discord for quite a long time.)
I like the idea that dancong drinkers need a safe haven, to protect us from the other tea drinkers.
This is great news, Liquid Proust!
Having said that, I have no idea what a discord is, but it sounds exciting anyway! I suspect I am the second oldest person on steepster and doubt if I am the most tech savvy!
Welcome back Liquid Proust. Nice to see a Steepster OG. This sounds like a cool concept and might just motivate me to actually use Discord.
Also, wish we could somehow link all of the various tea communities (e.g., steepster, teaforum.org, r/tea, myteapal, discord, etc) into one forum.
if this site would work 50% of the time I try to do anything I probably would, sucks to see things transition in a way but there’s so many other outlets that are more active that get my attention
I’m probably like 1,500 teas behind on here :p
I’ve got discord but have trouble using it. It’s confusing to me. I’ve tried and am subscribed to a few channels related to the games I play but communicating there always feels clunky to me and I get lost easily.
if you ever need help someone would gladly spend time one on one with you if you ask in our #suggestions channel, we have lots of nice people
I also find Discord a real pain to navigate and use…have had friends that have tried to help me quite a few times.
It can be a lot all at once. I find it easiest to turn off notifications so I don’t get pinged all over the place then with our server you can choose the rooms you want to chat in.
So say you’re interested in white tea, gaba oolong, and dancong- you can go into each room and then revist whenever you’d like.
There’s also search function to find conversations for any topic you’d like.
Or you can always just jump in during events. We do live voice chat on Sundays right now with more coming in the future.
Ultimately it’s not forever though but hope we can keep expanding :)
