Anyone order tea on Etsy?
Does anyone here have any experience buying tea blends on Etsy? Stopped drinking tea for a few years but lately have had an urge for flavored whites / greens / rooibos. I am looking for vendors with a variety, and have found quite a few Etsy vendors. Anyone tried these? Also any suggestions for vendors with flavored teas would be appreciated. Thanks!
I have ordered tea on Etsy. Mostly I ignore anyone just selling catalog wholesale tea blends (those coming from Metropolitan Tea Co., Wollenhaupt, Dethlefsen & Balk, International Tea Importers, etc.) since those are easy to find from a plethora of small tea shops. Instead I look at the ones that make their own tea blends (or at least claim to, in the shop description) and I’ve found several small-batch blenders on there (mostly creating herbal tisanes). Mostly I order my teaware from Etsy; that tends to be the first place I go when it comes teaware.
I have tried Casablanca tea company and I was happy with the result: https://www.etsy.com/shop/CasablancaTeaCompany
Also, for teaware, I can suggest Tangpin, and I have tried one of their teas and it’s not bad.
Thank you, Martin, for mentioning Tangpin because I just found THIS: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1017688052/tangpin-tea-lucky-cat-ceramic-tea-cup.
I recently bought a mint black from Dreamweavershop and it was not at all what I was hoping for. Haven’t found anyone promising.
I think you really just have to do some research into who you are buying from . I have one lady I buy from Brooke Birch Tea Shoppe and she does really good herbal blends.
Yeah you’re right, I just wanted to know people’s opinion on buying tea from Etsy instead of a place like Yunnan. I bought tea from two sellers with 5/5 star and hundreds of reviews, so I hope they’re fine.

I’ve had experience with only 1 tea company, A Quarter to Tea, on Etsy. They offered samples, (A major plus for me!) and their prices were reasonable. I just checked, and they seem to be on hiatus at the moment, though. Their tea had some…quirky blends that really appealed to me, like Eggnog Poundcake white tea, Frosted Carrot Cake Genmaicha, and Strawberry Jalapeno Salsa (Which I didn’t actually like much, but the concept appealed to me.) It’s been a few years since I’ve ordered tea from there…(Well from anywhere!) but if they come back from hiatus anytime soon, maybe I will.)
It’s not what you described looking for, but since I was paging around Steepster anyway, brought by an update notice, and I’ve bought tea from two vendors on Etsy before I’ll mention them. It’s “better” tea than you are probably looking for, and different types, with more focus on sheng pu’er:

Those are two completely different kinds of vendors, even though general tea focus is similar, I just think the second covers pu’er and oolong, and the first might offer random stuff too. I bought tea from them for my niece for her wedding, so it can work as a starting point to that range of tea, but you usually don’t get started on pu’er by accident. Depending on where people are for tea preference I might suggest to not even go there. Bitterness in “younger” (non-aged) versions can be a challenge, something to adjust to, and aged sheng is a very complicated subject, and it’s expensive. For both taking up Gong Fu brewing would come in handy, since results are better. I’m not really promoting all that, just offering an answer that wasn’t implied as requested.
