this sadly might be the first year i miss since it started. Either that or it’ll be a last minute attend – depending on how i feel.
I’ve always been tempted to go to this event, but I know I’d leave with lots of tea I don’t need. It’s too bad it’s in January when I’m trying to be frugal.
I hear you and I am also worried about being tempted to buy tea despite having more than enough at the moment. however, I want to go anyway, at least for the presentations, the film screening and to meet and chat with some new people.
The presentations and film screening do look interesting. If you end up going, I’d be interested in hearing about your experience.
I already bought tickets, so I’m definitely going ;)
Great! I hope you enjoy it—and I look forward to the upcoming tea reviews. :)
I really wish I could have made it, but I’m leaving on a month-long trip tomorrow morning. It would have been nice to connect with some other tea drinkers in the area – hopefully next year!
I’m surprised how many Steepster members live in the GTA. Maybe we should do some group orders to save on shipping!
Yeah, we could do that at some point!
Also, if anyone ever finds themselves in Kitchener/Waterloo, I would be happy to share tea with you. Roughly every other weekend we even have larger tea tasting meetups.
@Togo – Wait what? Tea tasting meetups in KW? I live in Kitchener!
Re: group tea orders – a bunch of us used to do that, although I believe most of the group is actively trying to reduce their tea ordering at this point. But I’m sure there would be interest!
Did any GTA Steepsters make it there? And if so, how was it? Thanks in advance. :)
I went for the first time! I got lost amongst the vendors and missed a few of the presentations happening downstairs but still managed to go to a couple. Festival was overwhelming but very cool. Ended up with some weird purchases I probably wouldn’t have ended up with otherwise (did I need to buy Chaga Mushroom? No.) but I’m excited to try everything I got.
I was there for the first time too :)
Overall I liked it, especially Friday which was much calmer so I could sample more tea, lol. The presentations I went to were ok, but in the end not the most memorable part. I most enjoyed just talking to all the people into tea. I have never really had a chance to meet so many tea enthusiasts and it was also a great way to meet the local tea people. The vendors seemed quite good, there was a good variety and some even had good deals, especially Jalam Teas, who I ended up buying the most from.
I agree, it would be fun to meet all the local tea people. I look forward to reading about your purchases!
