Spammers going after highly rated tea pages.....
I just wanted to make sure that Jason et al know about this….
Some spammer has hijacked tea page for Bailin Gong Fu Black Tea from TeaVivre….
Just click on the Teas header above…. I am guessing that TeaVivre will edit it back to their tea page.
Is that what was in the “sell car Australia” page? The page is broken now so I’m guessing something is happening about it. Hope all the reviews for Bailin Gong Fu are preserved.
Losing all of those reviews was my concern, too. Hopefully, the Steepster Overloards can fix this. And I think teas should not be able to be edited so easily, otherwise this will probably keep happening.
The page was accessible earlier today and all of the reviews were still there. The company name was different then. I am guessing someone tried to edit it because the company name is different now, and it got shut down.
Has anyone e-mail Jason about this directly? It’s the most sure-fire way the overlords will find out and address the situation. However, I don’t want to spam about the spam if they’re already aware.
Wow, that’s too bad! I like the openness of Steepster but if spammers are getting involved that’s clearly not good. Perhaps some extra security measures need to be added here?
Sorry guys, we’ve fixed the problem and removed the user. Looks like the spammers are getting more creative, let us know if you see anything else.
We’ve recently been updating the system so we can make more improvements and such, and one of those improvements is to keep spammers from getting in. So hopefully it will be less of a problem in the future.
