syrup vs nectar...any difference

I use agave nectar in baking and other things like that, and I don’t think there’s a difference between “nectar” and “syrup.” I may be wrong, but I think they’re the same and when people refer to “agave syrup” they’re saying “syrup” to make it sound more like maple syrup, to which it’s a pretty close analogue.
