Kettle/Claypot with stove indoor!
I was wondering if anyone got any experiences with those clay stoves mostly made out of Chaozhou. I have seen many of them used with also an Chaozhou claypot as water heating vessel and some bamboo or other type of coal as heating source. But I was wondering if those traditional systems are suitable being used indoor inside your apartment?
I’ve seen some of those coal types which are advertised as “smokeless” – are they really smokeless? I am very curious of your experiences!
Not a good idea to use it indoors. I believe the charcoal would emit carbon monoxide. I have one and have only used it outdoors. I have a nice metal outdoor table for it and my teaware. I am waiting for warmer weather to use it again. The biggest problem is lighting the charcoal. Some use a propane stove to light it. I bought an electric charcoal starter from Amazon that worked great.

I imagine they use a special type of charcoal that doesn’t emit carbon monoxide but I don’t know for sure. I definitely would not use regular hardwood charcoal or briquettes indoors.
I bought a special type of Japanese charcoal for my Chazhou stove but still would not risk it indoors. It is not only carbon monoxide in my case. I am sure I would be evicted from my apartment if I lit a charcoal stove indoors and got caught.Besides there is a real possibility that someone will knock one of these small charcoal stoves over. If this happens indoors you will definitely have a fire.
I got a ceramic glass Kamjove stove to use with my Chaozhou kettle at my desk. Burning charcoal indoors is a very popular method of suicide here in Hong Kong! Smokeless or not, carbon monoxide will be emitted from combustion
Does anyone know if it is a good idea and possible to use a Tetsubin on a induction plate?
