Recommendations for Large Gaiwan
Looking for a gaiwan that will have the capacity to serve 4. Maybe 200 ml or so? Any ideas or thoughts about what size would be best? I will be using for multiple teas, pu erh, oolong, etc.
I saw quite a few 200-300 ml gaiwans on Yunnan Sourcing. Personally, I don’t go any higher than 150ml with my gaiwans. The bigger ones can be awkward to handle unless you have very large hands. When I’m making tea for a crowd, I’ll use a large pitcher to compound multiple infusions before serving.
Here’s one example: 200 ml / 6.8 oz.

This 290ml cha hai works for combining 2-3 gongfu infusions: https://yunnansourcing.com/collections/cha-hai/products/clear-glass-gong-fu-cha-hai-serving-pitcher-290ml
If you get a larger gaiwan in the “easy” gaiwan style it will be easier to handle and they are sometimes made quite large. I have a 220ml one I bought on Aliexpress but I don’t remember the seller.
Hello Rich, JK Tea Shop have different size of gaiwans. If you would like to know about, check out here:https://www.jkteashop.com/tea-wares-accessories-gaiwan_c15.html
If you’re willing to explore a more modern aesthetic, consider this 300ml glass-and-bamboo gaiwan:

I’ve never tried the larger model, but I use the smaller (185ml) version of this every day as a combination gaiwan/pitcher, and it’s brilliant. Super convenient, easy to clean, compact for storage.
Plus the larger size has a handle, which deals with the awkwardness of handling a large gaiwan.
