Good Yiwu area sheng?
Anyone give me some good young recommendations?
im trying to find some more silky-smooth, long lasting, luscious tasting yiwu-esque, (hence another post about yi bang & xi Kong, to me different tasting)
or just recommendations of areas I can hunt out? Yiwu is really expensive, I wish it were cheaper
Nothing quite like Yiwu apart from… Yiwu :)
Huangpian is more accessible and if you increase the leaf amount it still brews strong flavour like the normal sheng leaves although generally less bitterness/astringency. Yiwu huangpian has good thick soup too
Do you know any good sources? I recently tried to get done huangpian deals and the tea was cheap and awful
Do a search for Yiwu on Yunnan Sourcing, you will find a lot of Yiwu and Yiwu area sheng.

We have actually sold most of our Huangpian to the local Chinese market as it’s very popular.
Be careful not to expect the release of flavour that standard raw puer has. You can get close by doubling the leaf and steep times for gongfu.
Another brewing method worth considering is if you put a small bunch of leaves in a large thermos of boiling water for at least 5 to 10 mins. That’d simulate how the locals traditionally brew their tea – pretty tasty.
I remember seeing Yiwu mentioned a lot on W2T. He’s careful to state it’s Yiwu character and rarely actually Yiwu but you might be interested. Maybe wait for Black Friday free shipping and get some samples ? I remember seeing Yiwu mentioned in description of Poundcake and Diving Duck, and 2017 Manichee and Bellwether. Although you said you wanted young, I’ve repeatedly enjoyed the 2009 Yiwu he has and there’s a 2002 huangpian Yiwu too.
