Ways for us to promote our tea?
I know most of you are avid tea drinkers so who better to ask then the people at Steepster. We are looking for ways to get the word out there about our tea company. Would love any suggestions. We do Facebook ads for right now but are looking for other things that might attract people like you to our product
thanks
Rob from love some tea
Free samples in return for reviews would go a long way in spreading by word of mouth. Especially consider samples to popular tea bloggers. Half the teas I own are because someone I trust recommended them.
Advertise your sales/giveaways on reddit (r/tea on the commercial sales post and r/teasales) and on Steepster
Personally, I don’t buy tea unless I hear good things from other tea drinkers. Steepster is a good place to start building up a good reputation. An important point here is to make sure you can appeal to lots of types of tea drinkers. Some enjoy herbals/tisanes and flavoured teas, but some only like straight teas.
For me, I judge a tea on the information given on the website. It if just lists the name of the tea and how to brew it, it could be a blend or lesser quality. Good quality tea will be listed with altitude grown, growing region, information about the estate/growers/processing method used on this specific batch, tasting notes (from the farmer or seller), soil conditions and type of tree (varietal, large vs small leaf, how old the trees are). Be honest and include as much information as possible about where that tea was grown and how it was grown. Don’t lie/guess on how old the tea tree is, that turns off a lot of tea drinkers if they think you are not being honest. I don’t want to know how that type of tea was grown, I want to know specifics of that particular harvest. I tend towards certain varietals and altitudes for some types of tea.
You will attract a lot more people to your product by listing ingredients (especially dairy/animal products and common allergens). I will not buy any tea without ingredients listed. Also consider doing pesticide and heavy metal testing on your teas, that does a lot to convince people.
TL;DR: List ingredients and as much information as possible. Advertise on reddit and steepster.
Arby thanks so much for your input i will talk to my co founders and implement your ideas
Arby who are some of the tea bloggers you trust and know i would love to send them some samples or even you if your interested
I agree with Arby – you will need to get your product into the hands of consumers who can then spread the word about your offerings. Advertising a promotional or sale via social media would pique interest as well.
If possible, making a few Youtube videos also helps consumers get to know not only your product, but you and the company as well. Again, post links to videos via social media.
Best of luck!
I trust Oolong Owl, Tea Sipper, and Sororitea sisters (http://sororiteasisters.com/). VariaTEA is on Steepster and writes for Sororitea sisters blog. Tea Sipper and Oolong owl also write on steepster (Oolong owl also has a blog and is on reddit also). I would also be interested in trying the teas and can write a full review on steepster.
