I know that this is a long and well debated thing, but… I’ve recently noticed that some of my cakes have obtained a smoky flavour due to being stored with other smoky ones.
SO, now I have split them in two boxes (well, 3, one for shou and the other 2 for sheng), one for smoky and the other for normal ones.
Do you do the same?

Yes, I separate them.
I place shou, sheng, “smokey”, and aged sheng each in their own place.
