looks like the image did not load right what would the best website be to host the image?
thank you again
Looks like a molded Yixing, not hand made.
the box just says this tea set comes from Yixing, China.
Like AllanK said, it looks like a mass produced set. One place in the image this is apparent is on the lid to the teapot. There is a mold mark around the middle of the lid handle. If this set meets your needs there is nothing wrong with it, but you should inspect it first. Leave some water in it overnight or boil it in water and see if anything comes off / out of the clay. You should not be able to detect a change in flavor or color of the water. Additionally, take a look inside and look for paint drips. Sometimes coloring is added and you will see it there.
Yes a molded pot is not necessarily worse for brewing tea than a hand made pot. It is really the quality of the clay used more than if it was hand made. Although an artisan is more likely to use a good quality of clay than a big factory.
thank you very much for your replies! that was some great information.
I will definitely be boiling it this weekend.
I would be careful with that pot. It resembles a mass produced set, so it may have some additives in the clay/coloring. Check and make sure its a clay substance and not painted.
