Tea of the day. Not sheng or shou
Jing tea shop spring 2014 DHP A grade
I didnt like this tea first because the roast was too heavy but now its a little mellower & with longer timed steeps, it has had stronger florals & the oolong taste has finally begun to shine through more. its much nicer
Yesterday I enjoyed a second flush Margaret’s Hope Darjeeling. It was very comforting on a busy Monday.
2015 Autumn Imperial Tie Guan Yin from YS. Its a bit less blatant-fragrant but oh so leafy & fresh tasting, really does a nice natural & green high mountain thing. Still tastes nice
2008 Duoteli Big Leaf Liu Bao from Essence of Tea.
I’ve tried this tea a few times, but I’m still not very sure how I feel about it. It has many positive features, but I also find the taste to be a bit off personally; not really funky, but in a “this is not the earth/soil taste you were looking for” kinda way. If the taste improves with age, I see this becoming quite nice. I definitely recommend giving this a try if you’re ordering form EoT, and seeing if the flavor more is to your liking.
Today I am sipping down my very last cup of Pumpkin Creme Brulee and missing Butiki like crazy!
Hot and Heavy Oolong from White2Tea today. I had a 10g sample from the club, and and did my best to stuff it all into a 60mL yixing, with some (intentionally) crushed leaf at the bottom. In the end, I only managed to get around 9g in; ah well. I did two back to back infusions per cup, both to insure the leaves got properly hot, and so I got a decent sized cup.
The first cup was a slap in the face (and body), but in a good way. After that it was smooth sailing, just tasty roasty goodness.
2014 White Shoumei from White2Tea today. Talk to me ~6 months ago about how I feel about white teas and I would have said “meh”. But thanks to being a part of W2T’s teaclub, I’m starting to really like them. This one is surprisingly thick, with some nice floral bursts.
Merry christmas everyone! last few days in Paris, so quick recaps on the tea drank:
Darjeeling Risheehat Biodynamic SFTGFOP1 KBA (not sure what this stands for) from La Route Du Thé, Paris. Lively on the tongue, nice aroma. Something really green & fresh tasting on this one, almost melon. Sweet honey aroma & nutty-something.
Gui Hua Xiang no.2 2006 from La Maison des Trois Thés. Incredible aroma (cherries & mangos & lychees & flowers & omggggs), mellow taste. Not bad, just mellowed. None of the pungency of a young Dan Cong, very forgiving in the brew. Will have to play with this a bit (i underleafed to test), as I think more leaf & hotter temps will be better for this.
Wu Liang Gao Shan Oolong from YS. Vegetal high-mountain tastes, was my eurostar tea, kept re-filling with hot water. Tasted good & natural.
