Any chawangshop specials I should get?
Im making a chawangshop order trying out their Hei Cha, which has become a new obsession of mine. Heicha is so nice when good..
is there anything thats particularly amazing, any tea? the shipping is a bit expensive to make multiple small orders so id like to combine.
I really liked the laos black puerh but its out of stock! if anyone bought a batch of these I would love to get a bit if they have any spare
I’ve been drinking through his Hei cha – some of the Malaysian market aged Liu bao is super nice.
To be more accurate: 1990s CNNP guanxi large leaf (Malaysian storage)
2011 Baixshan Tianjian
Are the two favorites from my first buy of heicha from Chawang. I have low heicha experience, but these have inviting depths of dankness.
nice! thanks for the recommendation. i have low heicha braincells as well but i really like the range of taste available
It’s really hard not to overindulge shopping there. After, you know, blowing ridiculous amounts of money at Tea Urchin and White2Tea and at all the high mountain shops, seeing aged stuff for those prices makes me just stuff everything in my shopping cart.
I’ve been coming to love and crave the dank though. Especially late in the afternoon deep into a working day.
Try the Shou Mei.
ive never tried shou mei – this one you mean? http://www.chawangshop.com/index.php/2012-fujian-zhenghe-shoumei-white-tea-100g.html
This is gonna hurt hard, as in wallet pain, but this is phenomenal. http://www.chawangshop.com/index.php/hei-cha/late-1980s-hunan-tianjian-in-original-25g-paper-box.html
But to get to phenomenal, you have to toss the paper box and plastic Baggie the tea comes in. This tea has had some humid storage and the packaging smells musty. Then put the tea in something else like a bowl, crock or tin and air it out for a month.
So yeah at a dollar a gram, this one is a wallet buster but the best heicha Chawangshop is selling at the moment. I have probably a third of their heicha teas, a few I haven’t tried yet. I also like the Malaysian stored loose they sell.
OMFG. its out of stock just as I was going to buy it.
Who here sniped me.? I know it was someone reading this thread
They have sold out of this before and got it back in stock again. Might just want to keep an eye on it in case they restock. Seems as though the stock buy is small each time. I’m guessing Honza is buying only what he thinks he can sell for certain because of the cost involved. He’s probably paying at least fifty cents a gram himself and that’s high for a vendor cost.
I tried a couple of their Liubaos and remember liking them. This one in particular I remember liking. I reviewed it some time ago. I just put in an order with them but for puerh.

Sorry, I don’t have any hei cha suggestions, but did you notice that they carry some teaware?
I have a proposal. In my new entrance to the Steepster I’ve noticed that there’s intense coverage of some well known shops, but the shops most in need of reviews are ones like Chawang – the mega warehouses full of weird shit almost nobody knows about. I normally don’t log most of my tea drinking, but I will for Chawang if y’all will too… Because their heicha section is a crazy maze
It isn’t Hei Cha but their He Kai gushu is fantastic. I think most of their puerhs are for aging but that stuff was kicking.
Yeah ive been eyeing some of their puerhs. Shame no Laos black, I like that.
How bitter is it?
It is not bitter or astringent to be spoken off. The 2015 He Kai is a nicely rounded young sheng with a lightly creamy viscosity and a great gushu taste. If you want I’ll send you a sample.
ended up with:
2015 Chawangpu Hekai Gushu Xiao Bing 200g
2011 Hunan Heicha “Zhu Xiang Ji” 200g
2012 CNNP Hunan Hei Zhuan 100g HH030
2008 Hunan Anhua Bai Liang Cha 200g
1998 Hunan Dongting Brand “9101” Qing Zhuan 50g Sample
1990s CNNP Guangxi Special Grade Liubao Tea 50g
2011 Baishaxi Tianjian 2kg Bamboo Basket – 50g Sample
I had to lose the liubao Allan, and the shou mei that mrquackers, both recommended, because I also really wanted to try some Bana tea out so bought their sheng sampler.
& a white2tea order because:
terroir set
1990s HK stored raw
2009 yiwu gushu-not-gushu (I do appreciate their honesty when it comes to these things)
so yeah a bit gutted about the old tianjian, if anyone ever has spare 1 session sample would love to try it.
After being on tea buying hiatus ive realised that it doesnt work, I get this buildup of things I want & then fall off the wagon in style like this. lolol
How did you have your Chawangshop order shipped. I chose SAL for mine because it was so much cheaper. But it could take two months to arrive. I think five weeks is about average though for SAL. The option for Air was nearly $100 more for my order. I paid $53 for SAL.
I went for the air order but I ended up paying less, it might have switched over, I noticed the order process wasn’t as tight as other websites.
How much was yours in weight?
Actually with Chawangshop the actual shipping price is usually less than what the computer charges you first.
Yeah that’s what happened, hmmm. It made me make this thread because I thought shipping was too much, ended up 900g or so. Next time I’ll try sample size & take it till the end and see how much it charges.
It was 35 =25 dollars or something
