About self made blends...
Hi everyone!
I have some black teas (Chinese, Assam and Darjeelings First Flushes) and I’m thinking about ‘creating’ my own blends so I will need some help because It will be my first time.
Any recommendation?
There are a lot of different Chinese black teas you can use Keemun, Bailin Gongfu, Lapsang Souchong, Dian Hong, Yixing Souchong and more, just not talk about all the grades…
What about just get those teas accessible to you first and do some experimental mixing.
Well, I have started blending a ctc assam with a dian hong and a fujian black. Quite good but will need an assam with much more body to perfect the blend.
This gives you an excuse to buy more teas. I rarely buy Assam teas myself but have drank a few. For dian hong you might look into the blends sold by Dragon Tea House, they have some good quality ones. But the thing to realize about them is they sell the whole range of low quality to high quality. They doon’t mark a tea low quality of course but you can generally infer it by the price. Teavivre also has some good Dian Hong as does Yunnan Sourcing.
