Tea suggestions

My tea book club is reading The Mists of Avalon this month. Per usual, I’d love to hear everyone’s suggestions on a tea to pair with this book.

Ideas?

I loved that book. Liquid Proust’s Fake Mead was the first thing that came to mind, but I don’t know if he still has it in stock.

That’s okay. I have it in stock in my tea cupboard ;)

That’s a good thing!

Do you look for authenticity with your book/tea pairings, or something that evokes the spirit of the book?

I’d rather have a good tea that reminds one of the essence of the story than an average tea that is labeled, “Mists of Avalon Black Tea,” for instance. But I’m not opposed to either.

That makes sense. I’ve read and re-read the book a dozen times since it first came out. To me, it’s very bittersweet. I’d go with a tie guan yin. That choice would be not so much for the type of tea or the flavor but for the name, because Kuan Yin is the Goddess of Compassion.

I like the outside the box thinking on that one!

My boss likes that about me, too! :-D

I think that chrysanthemum tea would go well with the theme of that book from what I remember of it. I read it more than 25 years ago. It has an unearthly theme of sorts and chrysanthemum is sort of unearthly too.
