I’ll try anything once as long as it’s vegetarian and NOT Banana…lol…I don’t like Bananas!
What is the verdict? I can’t imagine it being pleasant.
Things I USED to think are weird but I love are savory teas and matcha.
I was a bit taken aback when a friend sent me some tea with catnip in it. But hey, it’s from the mint family. I just have to watch more to keep the cat away from the tea cupboard.
…Chinese medicine.
That stands for brews made out of barks, mushrooms, leafs…and something that looks like bones…and it tastes like Liquorice…makes you sweat, it warms and heals…
Green tea ice cream. I didn’t like it at first, but it grew on me. :P
one of my favorite ice cream flavors!
I’ve only had green tea ice cream once, at Pike Place Market in Seattle, WA. I don’t care for it on it’s own, but I ordered it w/ a scoop of mint chocolate chip the combo is amazing!
@Cofftea – That sounds fantastic! I’ll definitely have to try that combo!
My post isn’t about anything weird or strange, but something very, very yummy!
Yesterday I was at the grocery store, gazing into the ice cream section. I was thinking of getting a pint of Haagen Dazs Green Tea (which I enjoy consuming, especially with matcha sprinkled over it!), when I saw another flavor of tea ice cream — Sweet Chai Latte. Well, I couldn’t very well say no that, could I? So I took home a pint. After dinner I took spoon in hand to sample the goods. The verdict? Delicious. Creamy, spicy (in a mild way) and perfect. Maybe not as rich of a “tea” flavor as I’d like — I’ve always said I’d love to try a great black tea ice cream — but the flavor was very similar to a Tazo Chai Latte, and it had that wonderful smooth, creamy texture Haagen Dazs does so well. If you have a chance to try this, and you enjoy chai or any type of spiced tea, I highly recommend it!
According to the H-D web site, this is a limited edition flavor, from Feb. to Sept. only. Here is the official description:
“inspired by the distinctive tastes of india, aromatic spiced chai tea is blended with rich, velvety ice cream to create this unique modern delicacy.”
HOLY CRAP Haagen Daz has tea ice cream? Must try! Yes, I can say that might be weird for some so it definitely fits. :P I just hope I don’t think it tastes like Tazo…
I said Tazo because the last chai latte I had was from a Tazo mix, so that’s the only basis of comparison I can come up with at the moment. It’s quite a delicious ice cream, you should definitely try it!
On a trip through southern China (guilin) while on a boat ride they had a big pot of tea with a snake in it.
I passed on it.
Kuding tea that looks like nails. Very medicinal, described as bitter with a sweet aftertaste. (Hmmm, almost, maybe.) I drank some the other night when my stomach was upset and I did feel better afterwards. I think you do kind of get used to the flavor, but it isn’t going to be my first choice for taste.
