What's the one tea you binge ordered on?

What’s the one tea you bought an excessive amount of after drinking it?

What’s the most you’ve ever binged on a tea?

For me, I once ordered 350g of Red Buffalo Oolong from What-Cha. I went way overboard on it.

ClariTea from Whispering Pines. I just bought 3oz and I don’t think I’ve ever ordered over an oz from them. The fact that it’s cheap helps.

Some of their stuff looks really good. I havnt gotten around to trying their oolongs.

I want to also order a bunch of that tea haha haven’t gotten around to it yet

This would be a rather large list for me..

lol right?

Then what’s the ‘most’ you’ve binged ordered on?

The most I’ve ever ordered at once was a kilogram, something I do on a somewhat regular basis. If a tea is one I can drink everyday and the price is right I will by that much. I had an experience like Allan once also where I was shipped a kilo of the wrong tea. The company replaced it with a kilo of the correct tea leaving me with a whole lotta tea.

Once I bought a pound of Bai Mudan from Harney and Sons. Without trying. Of course I didn’t like it tasteless colorless liquid. It was 2010-2011. I forgot about it. I was about to throw it out but decided to try. Turned out I aged my white tea. It got darker, the soup was bright orange , tasted like apricot jam and nuts. Sigh

Sounds like a success story no?

Aging tea can sometimes make a difference if it’s good or not.

i was surprised i could age tea myself without any special jars or attention. Just left it in original paper pack.

I’ll have to see if any of the white tea I’ve been holding on to for a while have improved.

I once ordered a tong of Dayi ripe and the shipment was not delivered after about fifty days. They reshipped the tea. The new shipment showed up, the old shipment showed up. I ended up with two tongs of excellent ripe. I sold about four cakes though and still have the rest.

Hahaha! I can’t imagine what I would do with an unexpected 10 pounds of tea!

Allan is a tong person….

Oh wow.

I’ve never ordered anything by the tong. That’s crazy though!

What’s a tong?

Dammann Freres in general. I think I topped out at 5000 grams of different teas of theirs.

Oh wow. What’s your favorite tea from them?

The $20+ shipping fee always deters me from ordering from them TBH.

Probably Coqulicot Gourmand.

The shipping starts out high but scales well, at $200 it is still the same amount, so we did two group orders on here and all loaded up.

I bought a pound of Adagio’s Honeybush Hazelnut last year, and recently bought a pound of green rooibos from Davidson’s on Amazon.

Pretty much any shipment of puerh from China. By the time I spend $20 or more in shipping, I figure I have to order well over $100 to make it worthwhile. Also, I placed an order from Thunderbolt tea a couple of years ago. They were having a big sale, but their free shipping minimum was $80. I’m still drinking the tea (which is still wonderful).

I didn’t order it all at once, but while it was available it looks like I order 6 oz of Verdant’s Ginger Sage Winter Spa Blend (which they do not offer anymore, sadface). I only have about 1 cup left from those 6 oz too haha.

I bought a pound of Harney and Sons Vanilla Comoro, because it was the cheapest way. Terrible idea, I still have half a pound left 4 or 5 years later, despite giving loads away. I really gotta compost that.

In successful stories, I’ve gone through at least 400 g of Black Jasmine Pearls (Davids Tea), Golden Monkey (Teavivre), Black Dragon Pearls (Teavivre), Bailin Gongfu (Teavivre) and Yun Nan Dian Hong (Teavivre). I loves them.

You just have to drink more of the Vanilla Comoro. I’m on my second bag. It takes about 2 years for me to go through a pound, but it holds up pretty well. It’s also popular in TTBs, because Harney only sells it in bags or by the pound.

I suspect it’s…pretty gross by now. Actually I don’t know where it is, maybe I did compost it. I used it mainly with chai spices for decaf chai lattes for a friend who was avoiding caffeine as I quickly came to find it too thin on its own. I like to jump in with both feet sometimes, and it took a while to rein back my tea purchases.

A pound of Butiki’s Oriental Beauty. I’m still drinking it. Other than that, 500g each of some oolongs from Teavivre, but then I also rebought that again before I even hit less than 50g left.
