Worst tea you ever had?
I was at a friend’s house once in the evening and knowing that I enjoy tea she offered me some chamomile to sip on since it was later in the day. I was pretty excited since I really enjoy chamomile in the evenings…well, real chamomile. Little did I know that this one was Celestial Seasonings honey chamomile or something like that. It was literally the worse thing ever. It was so sweet and fake tasting that I felt nauseous.
Bentley’s Orange Spice and Tazo Wild Sweet Orange came immediately to mind. I love orange in tea and generally like everything I try but I dumped both of these down the sink.
My ex used to mix together Tazo’s passion fruit and wild sweet orange. He begged me to try it once and I did ugh it was god awful.
Eeewwww. Sounds like something my wife would drink. She loves hibiscus and similar flavors I find horrible. Thankfully we have a million and one choices out there.
Yeah I am not a fan of fruity teas hot. I don’t know what it is about the flavor but eck. Especially hibiscus.
My worst experience was a Chai from a local tea shop. Tasted like straight table pepper. Threw the cup and the rest of the bag into the trash.
Lemon & Ginger Herbal Tea from Twinings comes to mind. A vile abomination and, quite possibly, a human rights violation!
I had somehow forgotten about this stuff! I took two sips before dumping it. It’s fit only for medicine since something that vile tasting has to be good for your throat.
You are so right, Gooseberry. I had attempted to drink it thinking that the ginger might help an upset stomach. Like you, I dumped mine after a couple of sips. It is no wonder that you had forgotten about this horrific concoction – It’s human nature to push traumatic experiences out of our minds!
Kava Kava. Tastes like muddy rotting tree bark, and made my mouth and throat numb.
And some oolong from the Asian supermarket that tasted like tire fire.
My well meaning friend brought back some pre-brewed tea from a trip. It was a Chai that had been fizzed with nitrogen bubbles. Chai’s already aren’t really my thing, but this must have been really really overbrewed and the creamer wasn’t helping it at all. Then the sweetener was probably some form of Sucralose and then the nitrogen added to the bitterness on top. Gross.
I think mine was probably a bagged shou I got in a Numi variety pack. It smelled like a barn and it didn’t taste any better.
The tea that I gave the lowest rating to on here wa Della Terra’s Cotton Candy have never had much luck with dessert teas, though have had a few that I really like.
Oh God. Normal cotton candy already makes me sick! Ick.
I had a Rooibos Lemon Meringue that I liked, can’t remember what it was called but it was light and flavorful. Maybe go for something less artificial?
