What is the most you resteeped a single tea?
I think I’m sometimes a bit overzealous in my resteeping. I’ll sometimes keep going until there isn’t much of the original flavor left, and I’m drinking warm colored water with a faint taste of the tea. I guess the act of drinking tea can sometimes be as enjoyable as the taste. So, how long have you spent drinking tea from a single batch of leaves?
I usually don’t do more than twelve steeps. In these cases I could save the tea for the next day but I rarely do as I know I will want to drink something else. Just ordered from the Yangqinghao group order though. Will try to give those teas at least twenty steeps as they are very expensive and worth saving for the next day.
26 steeps! This was a Feng Huang Dan Cong (“yaxi xiang” type) I tried at my friend’s place. I’m sure we could keep brewing it but I had to go that day…
A related question would be – What is the most volume of tea per gram you have brewed. After all 20 steeps in a very small vessel may produce less tea than 15 steeps in a little larger one. So, how many maximum ml per gram of tea have you been able to squeeze out?
In my case, I probably get 300ml per 1 gram of high quality teas and 300ml per 2 grams of daily drinking teas.
The largest vessel I have brewed puerh in is two liters. I used to brew 25g of leaf to fill a two liter thermos with puerh. Then I would sometimes come home and resteep the tea three more times to make a big batch of iced tea. Today I wouldn’t be able to make the iced tea as I have developed insomnia and that much caffeinated iced tea would keep me awake.
