You peeps are so lucky in the US! I tried posting in a UK TTB thread and got no answers. Euro TTB fail
This being my first TTB and I’m still a semi newbie on shipping teas, can anyone give me an idea of where to buy the foil bags and what size will be efficient? Maybe a link to a place if I have to order them online?
I get mine from Etsy:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/NooYouProducts?section_id=16504838&ref=shopsection_leftnav_1
I literally just bought these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/181996000727?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
I’m pretty sure they are not 4mm bags, but I can’t smell my strongest teas through them at all and they are the perfect size for samples. I would maybe go up 1 inch in either direction in size if the samples were bigger than, say, 25 gm.
Started a thread recently for this which may be of use :)

I bought these from amazon. They’re 4 mil, which is important, and also rated safe for food (many zip-lock bags aren’t). You’ll see several of them in the box, both for my additions and for re-packaging. I also use foil bags for amounts more than about 12 grams.

I apologize for adding more than I took, I was trying to add enough that more than one person could easily try each tea I added. I also put my name on each package I added simply so that if anyone has any questions or comments (or in the case of the Grizzly Brown they love it so much they want to split a brick with someone ;) ) they can easily direct them to me.
I will post some more comments about the teas I tried soon. Thank you!
Funny how much puerh is coming into the box. I set up the rules under the assumption that people didn’t have a lot of puerh. No problem with how you’re doing it, but I want to remind people that it’s Ok to add non-puerh.
Wonder if others’ stories are similar: I’ve yet to jump in big on puerh in the past but something this year kicked me in that direction… to really explore this corner of the tea world.
The timing/posting of this box coincided quite nicely with few puerh sample orders I had placed. So I’ll be in a place where I could add a handful of items (…but we’ll see how large it is once it gets to me :) )
There is a balance between having a large selection and having so much tea that it gets expensive to ship. If everyone pretty much just replaces what they take, it should work well. It’s okay to go a bit over, but there’s no need to push it. It’s also fine to finish off teas. Some of these boxes circulate among the same group of people and by the time it comes around the second time it’s totally different.
It is interesting, when I first saw this box I didn’t think I had much pu erh to contribute. Over the last year or so pu erh has increasingly captured my attention and taken over my tea drinking habits. By the time it was my turn to add tea to the box, all of the teas I was most excited about and most wanted to share were all pu erhs. Go figure. There is something about this form of tea that seems to have the ability captivate long time tea drinkers.
If you want some education/entertainment while you sip, I recommend this series:
http://www.washington.edu/uwpress/books/Zhang_PUER_TEA_videos.html
The second videa shows the picking, and #3 the processing. The book associated with the videos is also quite good, although a bit difficult to read, since it is aimed at an academic audience.
Don’t know if this is the right place to voice my interest, but if this box ends up going for another round or anything, I’d love to join in. :) I’m definitely a puerh beginner and interested in learning more about it.
