Best Chamomile Tea?
I’ve tried quite a few varieties of bagged Chamomile tea, as it’s one of my go-to teas. They mostly seem to be similar in flavor, a light almost apple floral taste. I’ve had Bigelow, Celestial Seasonings, Twinings, Stash, and a few others. I’ve had terrible luck with loose chamomile. Adagio’s always tastes musty to me, and a couple other sites that I’ve bought from have a grassy bitterness that I don’t care for. I’d like to find a good source for loose chamomile because I’m sure I can find it cheaper. Where do you buy chamomile from?
I usually buy it from Upton Tea http://www.uptontea.com/shopcart/item.asp?UTid=61-13-26757302&afterCart=/shopcart/item.asp&itemID=BH50
I really like the quality and the price is good.
Thanks, I’ll have to give them a try. I keep meaning to order some samples from them, but I still haven’t gotten around to it.
I bought a pound of chamomile from Davidson’s on Amazon. I can’t say I’ve tried many other chamomiles, but I do like it. The reviews on Amazon support its quality.
I’ll look into that. Davidson’s has great prices, but I haven’t bought anything from them yet. I’ve been exploring to get a better idea of my tastes before I commit to a pound of one tea. I do probably drink enough chamomile to make it worthwhile.

Bagged chamomile, which is mostly tea dust, is generally pretty awful. I didn’t take a liking to chamomile until I started buying good quality whole chamomile.
Rishi’s chamomile is very good. I recommend their regular one and chamomile medley http://www.rishi-tea.com/product/gram-tin-chamomile-medley-organic-caffeine-free-herbal-blend/caffeine-free-herbal.
Arbor tea and Tealux have good organic chamomile too. The latter is $10 and some change for 100g on Amazon.
If loose chamomile still tastes bitter, try adding a little dried mint. And keep steeping time to under 5 minutes.
I think so far I’ve mostly preferred chamomile straight or with other flowers. And mint gives me heartburn right now. I have been relying on the bagged stuff because the loose that I’ve found so far has been really disappointing. I know there has to be better loose chamomile out there, but I just haven’t had it yet. And teabags are convenient.
Tahoe Bliss tea makes an amazing chamomile with lots of other nice things in there too, like rosepetals and a touch of stevia!Link here – https://www.tahoetrunkshow.com/shop/tahoe-bliss-tea/
Thanks for the recommendation! Stevia tends to bother my stomach, so I probably won’t be picking this up, but I really appreciate the thought.
I second the recommendation for DAVIDs’ Egyptian Chamomile. Best pure chamomile I’ve had to date.
