New artisan Ceylon tea producer alert

Hope you’re off to a brilliant start this week. I would like to share with you all some good news.

As you know, Ceylon tea is all about the beautiful estates on rolling hills and hundreds of nice smelling tea factories mass-producing excellent tea. But what we don’t know about is the small-batch producers that are starting to create truly amazing things with their crop. In fact, there hasn’t been anyone paying the same kind of attention to creating a spectacular full-leaf tea like a Chinese tea-master, until now.

Sure, there are a handful of big factories that, since recently, have been making handcrafted tea paying attention to creating shapes like flowers, balls and spirals, but no genuine effort has been taken to create any whole-leaf teas that are valuable for their taste. Sri Lanka has also been half-heartedly producing cheap green and oolong tea to no avail.

Two months back, we discovered this incredibly passionate, completely unknown tea factory in Kandy, Sri Lanka that produces small-batch artisan Ceylon tea unlike anything we have seen from Sri Lanka before.
