Shou overnight?

Lots of people leave leaves over night and continue to drink them the next day. I think some in really humid climates spread them out on a plate or similar to allow them to dry so they don’t mold, but generally I think they should be ok to just leave for the night….

Perfectly fine just tilt it to drain and re-infuse with boiling water for the next brew.

I use to leave it in a big strainer so then they can dry during the night. I haven’t had any problem at the moment.

I live in a humid climate. A lot of the time that I brew puerh, it takes me two days to finish it. I leave the moist leaves overnight in the gaiwan (I do not bother to remove them out and dry the leaves entirely). I’ve never had any mould problems.

I save leaves and in a very humid summer day they will get skanky overnight. Leaving them in a strainer is a good idea actually. A teapot is a no, gaiwan works for me on all but the most hot and humid summer days. Some of my shou puerhs are insane mega-steepers, taking days to steep out. I’d be wasting them if I didn’t save the leaves.

I once reused the same leaf from an oolong that Global Tea Hut sent out for three days.

On rare occasions I have saved the leaves for the next day. I just leave them in the gaiwan. Usually I throw the leaves out however unless the tea is really special because I inevitably want to drink something else the next day. I think unless you live in a very humid climate you won’t have any problems leaving leaves in a gaiwan or teapot for the next day. Just drain the tea well.

I do it all the time. Never had a problem.
