Herbal and Decaf TTB - Sign-ups Closed
I looks like there are quite a few people interested in an Herbal and Decaf box, so I’m starting one up. Please let me know what state you are in when you sign-up.
- This swap will be for all herbal and decaf teas. For those of you sensitive to caffeine, please note that Mate and Gyayusa have quite a bit of caffeine, and Cocoa and Decaf tea contain small amounts of caffeine and may be included in this box.
-This traveling tea box will be US only, unless we have people interested in shipping to and from any other participating countries.
-Sample as many or as few of the teas as you like. If you like a tea, feel free to keep it. Just replace it with an equal amount of tea. When adding to the box, it’s a great idea to take a look at the wish lists of the next few people after you to see if you have anything they’d like to try.
-Follow me and the people who are before and after you in the list so that we can PM each other when needed. Ask for the next person’s address as soon as you get the teabox. This ensures that they are still active and available to participate. If you do not get a response from the person after you on the list within 3 days, move on to the next person, making sure to let me and the person you are skipping know they are being skipped. Let me know if something comes up before the box gets to you and I can shuffle you around in the list – if you are going to be out of town when it is your turn to get the box.
-Try not to keep the box for longer than a week or so. Please update the thread when you receive the box and when you are sending it out.
You will be required to pay for postage when you send the box out. Luckily, tea is pretty light weight, so the cost should be somewhere around $5$10. If you want to save a trip to the post office you can weigh the package and buy and print a label online or purchase a small or medium prepaid priority box, then schedule a package pickup online.
- Buying a tracking number is appreciated, but not required (it is included with priority shipping if you use that option). Please send the number to me and the next person on the list.
-Please either send the tea in its original packaging or make sure that it is labeled with the tea name and company. Recommended steeping parameters are also appreciated.
-Please make sure to package teas appropriately so that strongly scented teas do not contaminate the other teas, and so that no teas escape and wander the box while in the mail.
- Please replace the box if it becomes damaged.
- Participants who have not previously participated in a swap or TTB will be included at the end of the list.

I’m going to leave the sign-ups for this open until I get the teas from Liquid Proust. It would be good to have a few more people, so spread the word to anyone who likes Herbal or Decaf teas!
I’d like to participate because I’ve recently gotten interested in herbals, but I don’t have too much yet to contribute. That’s my one concern. Are there anythings I should get ahead of time for the box, and if so any suggestions?

You only need to replace teas you take from the box, so it all depends on what you take. If you just want to sample a few things, you only need a few servings of tea to replace it with. If you want to sample most of what’s in the box, and maybe keep a few things, you might want a few ounces of tea you’re willing to part with to add in. I can put you near the end of the list if you like, so you have time to put in an order somewhere to make sure you have enough on hand. I generally recommend a mix of things you tried and didn’t like and want to give away, and things you really liked that you want to share. I live in Maryland, so it would be best to put you first or last to cut down on postage costs.
Although, it hadn’t quite registered just how much Liquid Proust is donating to this box. This box is going to start out really heavy, so it might actually be a good thing if I send the box to you first and you take out more than you put in. Since we live in the same state, shipping won’t cost too much.

I just got Liquid Proust’s box. I’m going to take a few days to sample things and put the box together, but I should be ready to mail it out sometime next week. I’ll let you know when I send it off.
I have the box almost ready to go. I’ll send it out either at the end of this week, or early next week. It’ll depend on how I feel the rest of this week. I was hit by another of the nasty, days long migraines I’ve been getting with this pregnancy, but I think I’m starting to feel better now.
Aww, sorry to hear about the migraines! I struggle with those too and I know how miserable it can be. Hope this is is a better week for you!
