Paper envelopes for mailing tea?
I don’t know what they are called but I’m looking to get some of the envelopes that close up and have a resell able strip after you open them. Like what whispering pines sends tea in. Where can I get these? Also I’m looking for some tins that are just plain and airtight that are cheap. Any suggestions on where to get those?
If you are looking for sample envelops try these.

If you are looking for something a little larger.

You can also order zip locks of various sizes off of the Yunnan Sourcing China site.
I bought the ones from YS a year or so back. They are quite sturdy and thick, and I use them for my tea swaps. They are the same zip locks that YS uses for their tea. I had them sent via the slow-boat from China to keep the shipping reasonable. Took about 2 months to arrive.
For tea tins that are air tight and cheap try www.svtea.com. I have many of their tins as I have bought many of their teas. They are cheap and functional. On the other hand, Teavana makes some of the best tins.

For small tins these are great
If you are looking for small tins, these work very well and the price is right.

I love the Harney 4 oz tins but they are currently shown as out of stock. They may not be selling them separately any more.
Where do people buy small but durable ziplock type bags for samples/swaps?
just ebay 4mil ziplock bag and choose the size you like. It’s the cheapest way and there’s lots of sellers with competing prices, so I rarely buy from the same seller.
Crafts shops and dollar stores might have them, but it’s massively cheaper on ebay.
I’ve gotten 5×3.5 and 7×5.5 resealable aluminum/mylar bags from this Etsy vendor, who also sells on Amazon (but via Etsy is slightly cheaper for me w/ shipping):

I used tins early on on my tea hoarding. I got some from Upton that appeared to seal tightly, but every tea I stored in them was drier and more lifeless than the same ones stored in heavy duty foil zip locks after about 6 months or so. I’ve since ditched all my tins and now just use the zip locks.
I’ve read that tins are never truly airtight. I’m not sure if that blanket statement is true in all cases, but my limited experience seems to bear that out.
