Suggestion form the newb...
I have had a few people send me teas either for free or ones that I have paid for (THANK YOU SO MUCH, GUYS!!). I seem to have a little problem with some of them and the names/types of teas that I have gotten. For example, I pulled out a sample pack of “95 Shou Pu” from JK Tea Shop tonight because I wanted to use my Gaiwan (for my first time ever…only burned myself twice!). Anyway, I got that info about the tea because to was written in ink on the brown pack it came in. My problem is, I want to review this tea (because I LOVED it), but when I search JK Tea Company for “95 Shou” I get nothing.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, that MOST of you guys here could probably name that tea off the top of your head, but being the newb to tea, I have no clue what I drank besides a Shou Puerh. Is there any way, in the future, that you guys can sort of write out exactly what the tea is on the pack if it is a plain sample pack with no other description printed on it? Id really love to buy some of what I had tonight, but there is no way for me to find it.
Please do not take tis as me being ungrateful or demanding something from anyone…I just want to be able to view and maybe buy some these.
Thanks from the newb/Bewb!
I imagine whoever sent it to you probably took it out of a whole cake they have. 95 is pretty old, so it’s also possible that you can’t actually purchase any more of it. If they can tell you which tea factory it was from, it’s possible you can find it elsewhere, but be prepared that it might be very pricey.
http://www.mkstea.com/menghai-lao-tou-pu-erh-ripe-shou-1995/ it was this, sorry my handwriting is abysmal
and here is the steepster page of it: http://steepster.com/teas/m-and-ks-tea-company/57654-menghai-lao-tou-pu-erh-ripe-slash-shou-1999 – oh but i just noticed that it is not 1995 tho! hmmm. and 95 is not on the system yet (unless the 1999 was a typo) so you will have to make an entry of it…haha, your first!
Ha! I am just full of fail. Though when I was sent this (it was before the tea was in the shop) it was listed as 1999 Shou, so where the typo starts is the real mystery
(also I just edited the date to 1995, for the ease of not having extra listings floating about)
lol. you are not alone in that, dear Amanda! i too have too many fails! but life goes on :D
Aye, that it does! And luckily a lot of fails can be edited and corrected ;)
Please know, Amanda, I wasn’t calling you out. It was just an example. I was hoping you wouldn’t realize this was yours. Lol. It’s just hard for me as a newb to figure this stuff out. Like I said, 99% of people on here would have known exactly what tea that was off the bat. Me, being tea ignorant right now, I have a harder time. I hope you aren’t upset with me.
Nah, I am not upset. If you have questions about any of the other teas I sent let me know. Sometimes I get sent samples that are not in the best packaging, so I just toss them in new pouches with hastily scribbled names, Sorry I didn’t think to re-label it for you. :P one of the reasons I am always hesitant to do trades, no one can read what I write!
so far i have been able to understand labels from swaps but i havent had any with you Amanda. still, i would risk a hastily scribbled label to try your teas as i am not afraid to ask questions ;)
it’s ok to make requests of the community too Mr Bewb! i recall there being a discussion on specific requests for swappers like please separate pure from flavored teas so that the scents dont mix, etc.
Hehe, I will keep that in mind ;)
But yeah, no problem asking questions! I certainly take no offense at being asked, and you make a valid point, clear labels are much needed unless you are swapping a single tea and you know exactly what it is
If it makes you feel better. I constantly struggle to read my own handwriting. Usually get more confused by my own tea labels than anyone elses. Somehow it’s progressively gotten worst over time..
You know it’s bad when your mom gifts you a label maker.
Oh man, mine too. Sometimes (especially when I am REALLY tea drunk) my notebook looks so garbled, like it is in some weird code. My mom should totally get me a label maker…time to add one to my birthday wishlist hehehe
I remember as a kid my teachers would tell me to practice, practice, practice and it would get better…they were amazed that it somehow kept getting worse!
lol. u guys are funny! srsly tho, there must be a handwriting solution out there somewhere in the vast digital world..
We could hire hobbes do to all our note taking and label making. That man has glorious hand writing.
