Does brewing matcha bring out its flavor?
Hello everyone! I looooove the green tea frappe from Starbucks. I’m looking to take that same strong grassy and bitter flavour and turn it into a dessert. I have some good quality matcha powder, but I find when I add the powder directly to the recipes, the matcha flavor just isn’t there. I have even been through several recipes that are “matcha flavored”, but just end up having a taste that isn’t the rich flavor that Starbucks has. Would adding hot water to create a paste bring out its flavor? Or does anyone have tips for getting a strong matcha flavor? Should I be on a baking forum? Lol. Any help is appreciated. Thank you very much!!!:)
How much matcha are you using and what are you making? Double check if your matcha powder is still fresh too!
I just dump in the powder and haven’t had any problems when I make cookies/etc.
I agree with that ^ I’ve tried making a few desserts I found online, and found the matcha to be too light for my tastes. I ended up adding more, and it turned out great!
I almost always add more than the recipe calls for, sometimes doubling it ;)
Going make some matcha banana bread tomorrow.
Oh my goodness, that sounds so wonderful! I make a banana flavored matcha, I wonder if using that would make the bread even better :-P
