Edinburgh, Scotland Tea Houses....

oh, i’m a very lucky gal. my friend is taking me on a trip to edinburgh for 10 days at the end of April and I don’t want to miss any tea experiences to be had there….anyone know of any tea houses I shouldn’t miss? Any tea that I should certainly try to stuff in my suitcase on the way home? We’ll be traveling over to Ayr for a day or two from what I can tell as well…. any info hugely appreciated!

I have heard good things about The Elephant House, which you might want to check out their website to see if it is your cup of ___.

This looks perfect!! I’m a vegetarian traveling with a carnivore and trying to eat well but inexpensively….it’s wee gems like this that will make our trip memorable. Thank you E Alexander Gerster!

I like to think that your friend is truly a carnivore. Nothing but meat for her/him!

I think Rebecca has a walk-in tea house. It is the first stop I would make:

well, THAT’S NOT a tea house in Edinburgh…that’s solicitation. Not really what I’m looking for.

You ARE lucky! I lived there for 5 years before moving back to Oregon and loved it.

The best teahouse is, without question, http://www.eteaket.co.uk/
She has the best teas in town.

Elephant house is fun, and I love it there, but it can be touristy and busy.

If you want tea-and-scones, then please do stop by Clarinda’s http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g186525-d1600472-Reviews-Clarinda_s_Tea_Room-Edinburgh_Scotland.html – can be busy on weekends, but worth it for the piles and piles of lovely baked goods plus piping hot strong pots of tea.
