Favorite tea music/song :)
I listen to music during my tea time. It allows me to relax, dance, and get some energy out. I was wondering if I was the only one that did this. If not, what are some peoples go to music/song for their tea time. I’d love to discover so new tastes to include in my tea ritual :)
My favorite tea song is No Rain – by Blind Melon
This is probably weird.. I’m a gamer and I love music, so I listen to orchestral covers of my favorite songs from video games :P
I tend to find music from Nintendo games more relaxing, in general. I was listening to this one yesterday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvfqXJ8J-kY
It just relaxes me, 1) because I love the game, and 2) because stringed instruments seem to compliment a nice cup of tea :)
hahah that is amazing xD I never thought about the soundtrack to those games.
I knew you would :P I’ll have to send you a couple of links to other songs
Thanks kieblera5! I also like to listen to this album:

kieblera5 – That version of Gerudo Valley is absolutely amazing!
TeaNTees – The Final Fantasy adaptations are really cool as well.
Thanks to both of you for those links :)

Super Smash Bros. Melee: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NahGQ3e-WNg&list=PLE102C0B36467DA8B
Chrono Trigger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOLqO56fiFA&list=PL6954E60FBCA5C754&index=2
On top of that, I’m a huge fan of Disney movies, so I listen to those soundtracks too. I also have “normal” music tastes :P
It’s hard to quantify since my moods and tastes are always in flux.
When I’m in the mood for a medium beat but good energy, I usually go back a few years:
Drops of Jupiter – Train
Wagon Wheel – Old Crow Medicine Show
One Headlight – The Wallflowers
Put Your Records On – Corinne Bailey Ray
…
If the mood calls for something more contemporary:
Left Hand Free – alt-J
Pompeii – Bastille
Dangerous – Big Data
I’m Only joking – KONGOS
Elephant – Tame Impala
I Wanna Get Better – Bleachers
…
For a more raw energy:
Beat The Devil’s Tattoo – Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
21st Century – Bad Religion
Time Bomb – Rancid
Seven Nation Army – The White Stripes
…
And sometimes I’m in the mood for the really obscure; things I’ll never hear on the radio:
David Bromberg
The Good Rats
Tripp Shakespeare
The Deans of Discipline
Guy and Pipp Gilette
The Royal Guardsmen
…
But if you ask again tomorrow, the answer will probably be different :)
Thats awesome, I listen to a few of these :)
My taste usually fluctuate a lot as well.
My stations go from Red Hot Chili Peppers to Lincoln Durham xD
I like your obscure, I’m going to check a few of them out
“My stations go from Red Hot Chili Peppers to Lincoln Durham xD”
That’s a pretty wide swing :)
If you like American roots music, Irish jigs, strange ballads and other oddities, Bromberg is a good one to look into. He has a passionate national following, myself included.
The Good Rats were well known in the Northeast region of the US as a rock-and-roll bar band that did all originals. They had a tremendous, raw energy when they played live. Almost all of their discography is still in print.
Tripp Shakespeare was another regional band from Minnesota that broke out briefly. They are an acquired taste. “Toolmaster of Brainerd” bore into my brain 25 years ago and never left.
Flash Cooney and the Deans of Discipline are best taken in small doses. Punks with a rockabilly beat, dressed as glam-rock-transvestites. You get the picture. Their song “Little Debbie” is a disturbing, vaguely sexual ode to a snack cake. Only one album exists (thank goodness), yet like watching a car wreck, I find myself transfixed.
Guy and Pipp Gillette are probably more your speed – Texas country blues. A little hard to find, but worthwhile IMO.
I found The Royal Guardsmen in the cutout bin at Sears and Roebuck in 1971. Their forte was light pop, but they broke out briefly with “Snoopy vs. the Red Baron”, which still brings a smile to my face.
That is so cool :) I love a good irish jig in the mornings. I listen to High Kings and Dan Milner and whatever is in between.
I’m definitely going to give these a listen :D
I listen to a lot of classical music, as I was raised up on it. However, I also enjoy listening to country, jazz, old swing, opera, Spanish music (ranging from old pop to mariachi), and soo much more. I’m one of those people who are always listening to music.
Right?! hahah I always have a pandora alll day long, I can’t help it xD What specific opera?
I do a variety. Rush, Adele, Mumford and Sons, Seether, Florence + The Machine, Pink Floyd.
Lord Huron forEVER
Oh hell yeah I’m a video gamer too and nothing better than pumped on puerh and the music of the Suicide Mission from Mass Effect 2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eb6_J1dq1hk
that is Cwyn’s Death by Tea!
I can drink to that :P
Also, for the most soothing video game music ever.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfpQjtTrCEk&list=PLvNp0Boas7232fyzY5v9rxB5jtXo_uNGp
Harvest Moon game music (especially Spring or Autumn), Lord of the Rings/ The Hobbit soundtracks. Sometimes other film soundtracks.
The hobbit soundtracks are my favourite!! Sp sad felling but harmonic and chiling!!!
Right teahobbit-brother? +whisperingpinesteacompany
goes with age I guess….. I love to listen to Golden Oldies (music from the 60s and 70s)
I think about this question all the time! Both because music has always been a big part of my life, and because here at the tea shop, we always have music of some kind playing in the background as folks taste and chat about tea with me.
In general, I try and put together playlists that are positive and light hearted, without including too many “ear worms” or music that will really grab your attention. It also has to be the kind of music I can listen to all day, every day :) while still being fun and pleasant for someone just walking in for the first time.
In general, the playlist at the moment is a mixture of jazzy classics from Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, the Andrews Sisters, Eartha Kitt, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Nat King Cole, etc but there are some unexpected things thrown in: the saxophone suites from eccentric New York composer Moondog (aka: the Viking of 6th Avenue!), Sufjan Stevens, Ananda Shankar, The Doors, Brazilian guitar, Jose Gonzalez…
If anyone listens to music on Spotify, you can find the current playlist here!

Lily – I really liked your “PM Tea House electroswing” list … I had it playing yesterday afternoon at my desk. Lively, yet fairly unobtrusive. It made for a good backdrop to boring paperwork. Well done!
@Haveteawilltravel :)
Thanks, TeaExplorer! I’m glad you liked it. I like to use that one whenever we have parties or events here in the evening. I had never heard of the electroswing genre until this summer, but now I love listening to it when I really need to dive into work or when I’m entertaining a crowd in the evenings.
RAIN DROPS FALLING ON MY HEAD << :p
WELL JUST IMAGINE :-
You are sitting in your car ..on a bridge ..in the middle of a Tea Garden road…with your wipers on…and you brew a cup of Darjeeling in a borosil Glass.
Hahahaha @oMaRa
well try Greenday – Wake me Up When September ends and sip https://www.udyantea.com/tea-shop/goomtee-china-classic-black-tea.html
Favorite Burt Bacharach song? This one for sure!
Favorite single thing to listen to with tea? That one might be too hard to pick! If suppose if I had to listen to just one thing forever while brewing tea, it would be something from Moondog’s “A New Sound from an Old Instrument” or “Elpmas,” like Logrundr in G or Cosmic Meditation – if only because you could sit and listen to them repeat, over and over again. :)
Nice id never heard them before , just listened to them…really soothing :)
btw i am following you :p
Back at you! I’m glad you like it. Some of Moondog’s music can be quite strange, but it’s all interesting. Those two albums are probably his most soothing. The organ always reminds me of laundry in the dryer!
