Help finding a tea table (tray?)

Hello! My son is an avid tea drinker, and unfortunately I don’t know (pretty much) anything about tea. I would like to ask a question and get some help. I hope you can pardon my abject ignorance. On a visit to Beijing, my son saw tea trays in use. They were the ones with the drainage tubes and wastewater resevoirs. Could someone suggest a reputable supplier of a tray like those? I would like to get him one. We live in Canada. Thanks in advance..

Hi,
Tea tables come in a gazillion different sizes, shapes, material, price…
It’s all dependent on your taste and budget. The Canadian to US dollar exchange sucks right now, so I’m starting with Camellia Sinensis in Montreal – prices in Canadian dollars. I’ve bought lots of tea and teaware from them – reputable seller – but not a table.

To be honest I’m not even sure who else in Canada sells them. I bought my first one here….
http://yunnansourcing.com/en/8014746-tea_tables Reputable company in China – prices in US dollars, prices are reasonable – shipping can be expensive….
And just for fun – I recently bought one of these solid walnut ones from Mandala – it’s still enroute – really excited about it. Maybe not quite what you are looking for but they are beautiful….

I’m sure others will be able to point out other vendors (there are also tons on Ebay and AliExpress)

There are also a couple of fun ones on the top post on page 15 of the teaware lust thread…. I’m sure there are more in that thread…

:) I cannot wait to get it. I keep looking at the tracking hoping that by some miracle it will just appear in the city. :)

Another US retailer is www.puerhshop.com. If you want to order from China, Berylleb King Tea is good, http://stores.ebay.com/Berylleb-King-Tea/Tea-Tables-/i.html?fsub=6984607015&sid=993716515&trksid=p4634.c0.m322

Wow – puerhshop shipping is crazy 28.00 shipping on one cake? Don’t think I will be buying pu’erh from them :(

I don’t know about their shipping to Canada, but their US shipping is I think a flat rate of $9.55 or something.

I just did an order to the US and while the cart said 9.55, the actual shipping was something like $7.20. Lots of samples.

I’m not sure where you live. I do know places in Toronto and Oakville where you can go and buy them in person. I bought mine in China Town Toronto for under $40. This store had some very beautiful ones starting at about $50. http://www.gc-tea.com/#golden-coast-tea-club. She has very few online but there were quite a few more affordable ones in her store.

World of tea in Ottawa probably has them as well. I would contact them if they are local to you, they are updating the teaware section of their website http://www.world-of-tea.ca

I am soooo sorry I looked at golden coast tea – wow beautiful. Must not buy more trays….

That is only a fraction of what she has in the shop. She had some really nice smaller ones and all sorts of styles.

Wow! thanks sooo much! I can get to Toronto and Oakville pretty easily…..you’ve all been so helpful! And is there anything more adorable than some of these little teapots…I’ll get him one of those and some cups too.

And yyz, can you remember where in China Town Toronto you bought your stuff? If I venture there on my own, they might have to send the tracking dogs in after me. Those stores can be pretty small and loaded down with all kinds of housewares. Fabulous!

I bought my tea tray at a place on Spadina called A&J trading company. It’s one of the first places you come to coming North from Queen on the right hand side. It’s on the upper floor. They only have about three selections and they are all light wood but it has held up well. It comes with a slide out tray that can be used to trap the water itself or to which a hose can be attached.

My tea tray can be seen at my Instagram accountaccount yyzssv it’s not private. For some reason, I am not able to copy and paste url’s paste for the moment. I also saw a tray at the Herb Depot location on Sunday ( south side, ground level, not to far from the Lucky Moose grocer). They sometimes have beautiful but not necessarily cheap teaware. For the biggest selection in store I would head to the store in Oakville.

If you want to purchase on the cheap, I suggest Aliexpress. I got a small bamboo one for $14, another for $30, free shipping. http://oolongowl.com/bamboo-tea-trays-teaware-review/ You got to read the reviews of the item and the seller to ensure you are getting something not crap.

@yyz: Thanks so much! I just came home with a lovely tea table for my son and some delicious peach tea. Golden Coast Tea is a great little place. I’d recommend it to anyone in the Toronto area. She had a whole wall of sweet little yixing teapots and lots of teas. Thanks again!
